Quitting Smoking and Hypnosis

By | 2 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

You may have tried to quit smoking in the past and failed at it. This is a common experience as most people who end up quitting smoking have to try several times before they finally "get it." One thing that might help you if you have tried other techniques and failed at them, such as the patch or the gum, is quitting smoking with hypnosis. This can be especially helpful as a secondary strategy that can really give you an edge in quitting.

The idea behind hypnosis is that you are not just medicating your body like you are with the nicotine patch or with some quitting smoking pills. Instead you are attempting to make a real decision to quit smoking on a very deep level in order to make a really solid commitment. You see, when you use the nicotine replacement products, such as the gum or the patch, you are actually fooling yourself a bit in terms of how easy it is to quit smoking. The real challenge starts when you stop using those nicotine products. You cannot wear a patch for two months and claim that you have made progress, especially if you stop wearing the patch and immediately return to smoking. This happens all to often and so what needs to happen is that you need to treat the underlying causes of the addiction.

When you use a nicotine replacement you have not really quit the drug just yet, and therefore you are not ready for the psychological effects of the withdrawal. If you use quit smoking hypnosis it can give you an advantage in your mental preparation for nicotine withdrawal, making you stronger. Hypnosis can give you the edge to be prepared for this psychological battle before it really starts. Most people just need one or two sessions of hypnosis and they will be able to maintain a smoke free life based on that. This is far cheaper and far more effective than spending hundreds of dollars on nicotine replacement products that don't really work in the long run.

Believe it or not, quitting smoking is all about making a commitment and constantly motivating yourself to move on, without cigarettes, without looking back.
