Rat Traps Are The Best Way To Kill Rats

By | Nov 18, 2011 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

There are few pests more annoying and potentially dangerous than rats. They can be found in virtually any part of the country, and are known to create large and troublesome infestation in whichever house they manage to find a foothold. Getting rid of rats can be tricky, because they are smart and rather cunning when it comes to avoiding some of the more common rat control methods that are usually employed such as rat poison. However there are several things you can do to make sure that any rat eradication program you choose to undertake will be successful.

The first step that should be taken is to work on increasing the overall level of cleanliness in the affected house, particularly in any areas where rats have been seen or their droppings or other signs of their presence have been found. These are usually found in areas where there is abundant food, such as kitchens and pantries, and cleaning these areas and making sure no traces of food are left behind will go a very long way in eradicating the infestation.

When it comes down to the actual methods that should be used to kill the rats, you have many options. The most common product used in these types of situations is the trap. There are however several different varieties of these rat traps, and picking the right one can be challenging, especially to a first timer.

Perhaps the best type of trap is the snap trap. These are simple mechanical devices that snap shut on the neck of the rat whenever it triggers the release, often by taking whatever bait has been placed on the device. These products cause an instant and painless death for the rat, and can be easily cleaned and re-placed at the same site to catch even more rodents.

Another option is that of rat poison, although a bit more care must be taken when searching for, purchasing and placing this type of rat killer. Most of the poisons available today act by interfering with the rodent’s body’s natural blood clotting. This means that any rat that ingests the poison will be dead within a matter of days, and occasionally even faster than that depending on the size of the individual animal.

Whichever method you might choose, know that getting rid of these creatures often requires a long term and concerted effort, and you should arm yourself with the knowledge necessary about the rats before you even try to get them out of your home.
