Reading James Patterson's Alex Cross Books in Order

By | Sep 29, 2009 | 1 Comments | Rating: 0

James Patterson is an extremely prolific author whose books regularly debut in the number one bestseller spots on books lists. Although he has written several series of books, as well as co-authored books with many up and coming writers, it is his books featuring detective Alex Cross that have won the hearts of readers. In fact, many of these books have gone on to be developed into very successful feature length films, the most famous of which was Kiss the Girls.

The series chronicles not only the professional, but also the personal life of Washington D.C. Homicide detective Alex Cross. Because of this, reading the books in the order they were written will prevent readers from becoming confused by the ever evolving events that occur in his personal life. Although it is not critical to read the Alex Cross Books in order, it definitely helps.

As you will see from the list below, Patterson began the series by entitling each book using a line from popular children's nursery rhymes. In the later books, however, he stopped this practice instead opting to title them after the main character in the books Alex Cross. These books are titled Cross, Double Cross and Cross Country.

So this list is for all of those readers who want to read James Patterson's Alex Cross books in order, as well as those who want to know which Patterson books have Alex Cross in them. The following list includes only those books written by James Patterson. It does not include the many books that he has co-written along with other authors. The only exception is the most recent book Alex Cross's Trial, released in August of 2009, which Patterson co-wrote with Richard Dilallo.
