Patricia Cornell is one of the best known crime fiction writers in America today. Her books, featuring main character Kay Scarpetta revolve around Scarpetta's job as the Chief Medical Examiner in the State of Virginia. This series, which began in 1990 has become a phenomenon, with each new Patricia Cornwell book debuting on the best seller lists. Although it is not critical that the Kay Scarpetta book series be read in order, doing so will greatly increase your understanding of the character. The books listed above are just the ones inclduing Kap Scarpetta a s the main character. Patricia Cornwell has written several other series of books including the Wyn Garano series, the Andy Brazil series and several nonfiction books. Her cookbooks including "Food To Die For" and "Scarpetta's Winter Table" are fantastic. Anyone whose mouth waters while reading the delicious recipe in her novels will be able to cooks the dishes for themselves at home. You will look like a gourmet chef, your guests will eb amazed and none has to know that yougot your recipe from a crime writer.

I think her later books are not as good as the earlier ones. There are a few books which are really lousy.

Ok - so I read "Post Mortem" and then, per your advice, went on to read "Body of Evidence" next. Suddenly she is mentioning an ex-boyfriend named Mark who wants to come see her and who had previously broken her heart. The way it was written very much sounded like the reader should know what had happened. Hmmmm, no Mark in "Post Mortem" only a certain Bill Boltz. What gives? Should I be reading "All That Remains" before "Body of Evidence"? Please advise...
