Stress is something that everyone experiences almost every day. Most of the time, people often regard this matter as a sign of weariness which would disappear the next day. But, it doesn’t always end that way. Often times, people would only recognize stress when it’s already too late. At this point; you’re already under too much pressure, fatigue, anxiety or a burn-out state. This can lead to a lot of serious problems. It will not only affect you physically. But, it will also affect your efficiency at work, decision-making skills and whole well-being. For that reason, recognizing stress during its early stage is very essential. If you can discern it beforehand, you can easily cope, relax and ask for help before matters turned to worse. Recognizing the early signs of stress within the physical aspect is discernible. But, it is often misleading. For example, one may think that his back pain is due to a wrong sleeping position. But, this may also be a sign of stress. For that reason, you cannot ignore any physical signs. If you believe that you're experiencing them more often than usual, you may want to lighten your workload and relax for a while. The problem with recognizing the signs of stress based from your emotional and behavioral aspect is denial. Cognitive signs

When it comes to recognizing the signs of stress based from your mental abilities, you may or may not perceive it at once. But, as a rule of thumb, a decrease in cognitive functions such as decrease in concentration is a classic sign that your brain is asking for rest. In contrast to that, stress presents itself in varying scenarios far worse than a decrease in concentration. With that, you’ll know you're dealing with stress when you're experiencing any of the following:

  • Inability to concentrate or focus
  • Forgetfulness or loss of recent and important memories
  • Anxiety, confusion and short attention span
  • Rapid thoughts or continuous thoughts of certain events or topics
  • Inability to make wise decisions or lack of judgement
  • Narrow-mindedness and pessimism
  • Paranoia

As you can notice, all these signs from physical to cognitive will also point to several medical conditions. You may interpret it as a sign of stress, but it can also be an indication of a progressing disease. Hence, if you’re frequently experiencing any of these signs, you should also consider seeking medical attention. This will guarantee that there is nothing wrong with your body, medically speaking.
