Record Store Day 2011 Releases

What Exclusive Albums Will This Year's Record Store Day Have?

This year's Record Store Day will be held on April 16th, 2011.  The event takes place in independent record stores around the country.  Record store day offers a release of several exclusive vinyls that can only be purchased on this day.  Many of these releases are limited edition and very rare, others are special releases for the day.  A wide variety of different bands that span across different genres offer unique releases.  Some of the items are very collectible, and this may be the only chance you can have to pick up specific albums.  

 

Record Store Day

In the past, many limited record releases are available.  Some of them are special colored vinyls, while others are exclusive vinyl releases of material that wasn't available on wax before.  Other releases range from exclusive live CD's, to special reissues, to limited 7".  You can find a wide variety of cool releases on Record Store Day.

For 2011, several different exclusive releases have been announced.  Many more will come forth in the future, but there are already some very cool releases on the list.  Record Store Day's official UK website has already compiled a list of several of the albums available.

There are several notable names on the list of Record Store Day 2011 releases, as well as many obscure.  They span through several different genres, and there are options available for pretty much any fan of vinyl and music.  Many  more releases will probably be added to this already lengthy list of albums.  Be sure to hit up your local record store on April 16th, and enjoy the 2011 Record Store Day Releases.  You can checkout the website for information on participating record stores.

**Recent Updates:

 The band Phish announced Two Soundchecks, a limited, hand-numbered 7 inch.  This will be Phish's first ever Record Store Day release, and there first ever vinyl record release.  One of the songs is an instrumental, while the other is a sound check for a 2009 concert at the Greek Theatre in Berkley, CA.  There are only 2,000 copies.

The Beach Boys are releasing a 78 vinyl rpm double set, including "Good Vibrations" and "Heroes and Villains".  The first disc has the studio versions, while the other has alternate takes.
