Stress management training is an extremely effective way to reduce stress in everyday life. Stress is a major cause of high blood pressure, weight gain and heart problems. Most doctors will suggest patients organize their schedules or find a hobby to reduce their stress. This is good advice but stress management training will go even further at teaching you how to reduce your stress. This type of training shows you how to control your stress using physiology. Physiology is internal and it is a way of controlling stress by controlling your thinking. When someone is stressed, the stress can be reduced by thought. For example, if your car needs to be repaired, instead of stressing about how you are going to pay for it, you can think of how lucky you are to own a car. Stress management can help prevent you from overreacting, especially during public situations. For example, people with road rage are often extremely stressed and take out their anger on other innocent drivers. Remaining calm while you are driving will prevent accidents. A lot of people who are stressed are ready to snap and cause major harm to themselves and the public.

Stress management training can show you exactly why the body becomes stressed and how to deal with it. When the body feels threatened it releases chemicals such as cortisol and adrenalin in the body. These chemicals gives the body a rush of energy. This is why people who are stressed are often fidgety and cannot think of anything about the problem at hand. While stressed, the body actually loses brain cells and neuronal connectivity. Once the problem has been solved, the body relaxes back into its normal state.

Stress Management Training Limits

When someone is under attack or being threatened physically, stress management is not effective. It is difficult to control stress under a high pressure situation. Stress management training is best used for everyday situations such as unexpected bills, work deadlines or life events (weddings, birthdays, moving, etc). When dealing with sudden stress such as a car pulling out in front of you in a busy intersection, stress management will not help you during this situation but it can help afterwards. Stress is good in this situation because it will help you think quickly. After the event, stress management can help you calm yourself down and relax.

Stress in Everyday Life

Once you have been through the training, you will need to practice stress management every day for it to be effective. Stress management can help prevent some serious problems. How often do you forget to pick your son up at daycare or you forgot how you got home? This occurs because the stress prevents you from focusing on the present. This is the first thing you need to do to prevent stress. Try to focus on the present. Be aware of what is occurring around you will help you relax and stop thinking about the things that are stressing you out. Some people like to carry a voice recorder so they can record their thoughts and ideas. This way, they will not have other thoughts cluttering their brains. They can focus on what is going on around them.

Using Technology to Reduce Stress

Part of stress management training is using technology to help reduce stress. Technology has saved lives with pace makers, feeding tubes and organ transplants. One way of reducing stress is by using a heart monitor along with stress management. One type of heart monitor is called Heartmath. It was developed by scientists studying neurocardiology, which is the study of the hearts nervous system. It can monitor how fast your heart is beating so you will know when to start stress management. When the body is stressed, the heart will beat faster and irregularly. The heart is the first organ that sees the result of stress. It will send the brain signals telling it that the body is stressed. Stress can be controlled by timing these heartbeats. A relaxed heart will beat in a rhythmic pattern and will be drenched in DHEA, an anti-aging hormone. There is little adrenalin and cortisol in a relaxed heart. The DHEA can have wonderful calming and anti-aging effects on the body, which is why it is important to stay relaxed. A relaxed heart also means a relaxed brain. Finding a Stress Management Class

Stress management training courses can be found at local community colleges. Another option is through your employment. Many employers will provide classes for no charge to their employees. Seminars can also be found at hotels or convention centers. Hospitals may also offer classes that show you stress management techniques. Ask around and visit local health centers to find a class, course or seminar near you.

Everyone should take stress management training sometime in his or her life, especially those who work in stressful environments. Reducing stress will have many health benefits including lower blood pressure, maintaining a normal weight and less wrinkles. Relationships will also be better when there is not stress involved. You will be able to focus on the people you love instead of on the stress and the problems you are facing. You will be less likely to yell at your loved ones when you are not stressed. People who know how to handle their stress will be less likely to forget important dates and will be less distracted overall. The reduction of stress will make you feel young again. The DHEA hormones are much healthier for the body than adrenalin and cortisol. Most people who deal with stress every day will get gray hair and wrinkles at a young age.
