Grilling and Your Registry
If you are in the process of planning your wedding then it is a good idea to include some masculine items on your registry. More and more brides and grooms are making the decision to register for items that are not traditionally on a wedding registry. The first realm of products that comes to mind when one thinks about adding manly items to a wedding registry are grilling items. A few grilling items that you might want to consider registering for are the following: a grill, utensils, a portable outdoor bar, and a grill cover.
A grill is a very important part of any outdoor space. Whether you are moving into a new house, an apartment, or into your in-laws basement it is important to have a grill as you begin your new life. The first decision you have to make when you are shopping for a fire-powered meat heater is whether you want it to be gas, charcoal, or electric. There are a few aspects to think about when choosing the heat source. Charcoal grills will certainly give the best flavor to your meats; gas and electric models do not add the complexity and flavor that charcoal can impart. Price is another issue to consider. Gas grills will cost the most upfront, but the low cost of fuel will lead to a lower long term cost than charcoal. Lastly, you will need to think about the space you have available for your new outdoor man-stove. On occasion, apartment complexes will only allow electric grills to be used to reduce the risk of fire damage. Gas, electric, and charcoal products all come in small and large sizes so this decision must be made after you make your other choices.
You will have a variety of utensils to choose from when you work on your registry. The best and most important of these utensils are those that you will use to flip meats and veggies on the grid of fire-heated metal that some call a grill. First you will need a grilling spatula; you can use this to flip steaks, burgers, and chops to your hearts content. Spatulas come in many shapes and sizes. It is important to get a metal spatula with a long handle but beyond that you can pick any product that seems reasonable. I suggest that you look for a unique spatula that shows your personality; perhaps the handles are shaped like golf clubs or your favorite sports team's logo is burned into the wooden handle. Lastly, it is imperative that you get a spatula with a bottle opener on it. You can never have too many bottle openers around when it is hot and you are harnessing flames to feed your friends and family.
You will also need a pair of tongs. These should also have a long handle so you can keep your callused man-hands from getting to close to the fire. Tongs will give you better control over your meats, veggies, and fruits and therefore are a very important compliment to the grilling spatula.
Additionally, a grill scraper or brush will come in handy. It is critically important to clean your grill before every use. This tool will provide you with the ability to quickly free your equipment of any buildup or leftovers from its last use.
Lastly, there are a variety of other specialty tools for which you may be interested in registering. If you plan to grill fish you may want to get a cedar grilling plank and a fish spatula. If you like to make sliders you can get a grilling basket that will help you flip all of the sliders at the same time. Those using a charcoal grill will possibly want a charcoal starter. Any of these items can help your grill go above and beyond.
Enhancing Your Space
The last thing to consider when registering for a grill is how you plan to enhance and invigorate your outdoor space. One great way to do this is by buying an outdoor bar to go along with your grill. This way you can fire up some juicy meats while serving, or being served, an icy cold beer. An outdoor bar would allow your friends and family the opportunity to meet, eat, and drink all within the same outdoor space. Another great item that can pep up your grilling area is an exciting grill cover. You can register for a grill cover that displays the logo of your favorite team, or perhaps you are more subdued and want to just get a plain, sleek black cover. It is very important that you do cover your grill to keep it in top condition.
