Resveratrol Side Effects: How to Get Resveratrol's Anti Aging, Heart-Healthy Benefits Without the Side Effects

This will help prevent wrinkles and other signs of aging. The reason I'm going through all these benefits is to put the resveratrol side effects into context.

I also want to quickly mention that there are specific resveratrol cancer benefits. Cancer is such a killer these days that we need to do whatever we can to avoid it. The scariest part about cancer is that we never know who's going to get it, or why--not counting people like smokers.

But we do know that there are some vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients that help prevent it, and resveratrol is one of those. One study showed that resveratrol lead to a destruction of pancreatic cancer cells. An article on www.webmd.com explains that resveratrol may help to prevent breast cancer before it even begins.

In addition to red wine (the most famous source of resveratrol), you can also find this antioxidant in foods like peanuts, grapes, blueberries, cranberries, and bilberries.

Here are some possible side effects you can experience from taking resveratrol:

  • Upset stomach or diarrhea. This resveratrol side effect is sometimes associated with consuming high amounts of low-quality resveratrol.
  • Insomnia. This resveratrol side effect is rare, but some people have reported a sense of anxiety from taking this product. In some cases, this is serious enough to lead to insomnia.
  • Joint pain. This has occurred in those taking an extremely high dose. If you experience this resveratrol side effect, try lowering your dose and it should go away.
  • Drug-drug interactions. If you’re taking any blood-thinning medications, talk to a doctor before you buy resveratrol due to potential complications.

Ways to Avoid Resveratrol Side Effects

Some of the side effects listed above don’t come from the compound itself, but from other additivies in the supplement. Some supplements are made from Japanese knotweed, which is high in emodin. There are no particular benefits associated with emodin, and it might even be the cause of some of the resveratrol side effects I've described. In short, it’s best to take a high-quality product.
