This kind of arthritis can be acquired by a person at any age. The most common victims are those who are in their 40's and 50's. But generally, women can easily acquire this disorder than men. About 2% of the population around the world is affected by rheumatoid arthritis. Although, it can be classified as rare kind of disorder, everyone should be aware of its symptoms because it can be acquired by a person who is not accustomed to have exercises everyday. Inflammation of the joints are often caused by inactivity that is why people who do not stay out of the open everyday are more likely to get any kinds of arthritis. This will lead to too much pain in the joints which will eventually disable the person afflicted by such disorder.

More often, a person will know that he has rheumatoid arthritis when he is already seeing and feeling the signs and symptoms of this most dreaded disease. However, blood tests are proven to be able to determine if a person has it. And commonly, X-ray will prove that something bad is going on in the joints of a person.

Fortunately, there are treatments available for the victims; the physical therapy, non-pharmacological treatments, occupational therapy and the orthoses. All of these are proven to relieve and treat rheumatoid arthritis. But painkillers and other anti-inflammatory drugs are given to the patients to give them comfort when the pain attacks.

And for those who still do not know about rheumatoid arthritis, it was based on the "rheumatic fever"; a kind of sickness accompanied by joint pains and will lead to inflammation if left untreated. "Rheumatos" is a Greek term for "flowing." The suffix "oid" (means resembling) was added to describe more about the behavior of the said chronic disorder.
