Popular Rose Tattoo's - Designs and Ideas

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

Roses can stand for many different things but most often they symbolize love or strong romantic emotion. However, when used in tattoo designs roses can take the meaning of and be used to  portray many different sentiments. Roses are, perhaps, the most used flower when it comes to body art and have been inked on in potentially thousands of different portrayals of personal and profession artistry. Some of those designs can be seen below.

Tribal Rose Tattoo's

Tribal Rose Tattoo
One of the top requested (perhaps even inked) tattoo designs for women and men are those featuring sharp tribal details. Tribal rose tattoo's can be done with solid (real life looking) roses in full color or inked in solid black outlines. These tattoo's can often be found on lower backs and upper arms. Body art like this, when featured on the arms or legs - are often done in a band style (tattoo that wraps around in a band-like fashion).

Sword and Rose Tattoo's

The sword and rose tattoo combo is often seen accompanied by a banner style ribbon. Personal preferences can vary, greatly so other depictions  can obviously be included or omitted from  any personal tattoo design. Many tattoo artists, who provide pictures of previous client tattoo's will have this tattoo design (as well as many other mentioned designs) featured or showcased somewhere in their shop.

Thorny and Wild Rose Tattoo's

Perhaps a tribute to one's "wild side", this thorny body art can be biker bad, seductively sexy and some of everything in between. This ink work is seen both in standalone tattoo's as well as seen decorating larger and more intracate body art designs.

Stand Alone Rose Tattoo's

Realistic stand-alone rose tattoo

This style of rose tattoo is most often seen on women (not exclusively though). The stand alone rose is typically the design that is chosen by women who are looking to get a small; hip, ankle, breast, stomach or shoulder tattoo. The curvy design of the flower (with and without the thorny stem) appears quite attractive and feminine when inked on in small detail.

As you can see from the photo above not all stand-alone rose tattoo's are inked on in small detail. Like the one above, larger roses are often featured in more bold locations such as the neck, upper back or spanning the shoulder area.

Skull and Rose Tattoo Designs

Tattoo's featuring something dark and morbid such as a skull and accentuated by a rose are a common bad boy/bad girl tattoo design. Done properly the tattoo, in a finished stage, can appear hardcore or with a tear and a spin even sad or lonesome. Nearly every person will have a different idea of what their chosen tattoo means but this design is most often used by those who want to show or share just how hardcore they are.

Ribbon and Rose Tattoo's

Rose Tattoo with Banner or Ribbon
This design often features the name of a loved one or a memorable quote. Often, when this design is sought, you will see an end result of a long stemmed rose loosely wrapped in a flowing banner ribbon.  Much like the heart and ribbon artwork these are perfect for a tribute to mom, dad, children and significant others.
