Running Headphones

By | Aug 30, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

The key to a successful workout is to stay motivated and to stay focused. Playing music while you run, bike or even lift weights, can be a great way to accomplish this. Many people use music to take their mind off of the pain while others use it to psyche themselves up to help push themselves to the next level. No matter what you're plan is, the last thing you need is to be constantly adjusting your headphones because they keep falling out. If you know what I'm talking about, you'll really appreciate some of the things that we discuss in this article. Below you'll find tips on what to look for when you buy running headphones.

Everybody has their own opinion on what's more important. Whether it is style, or comfort or convenience, there is no one perfect set of headphones for running. Some people like to wear earbuds when they run because it drowns out the sounds of the world. Others can't stand to have anything sticking in their ears so they prefer to have the style of headphones that loop around the back. When buying a good pair of running earphones, make sure you know what style suits you best. There are good headphones for running in each category (earbud and headphone) so you really can't go wrong. Besides, what good are they going to be if you don't like them and won't wear them.

Another big factor that's important to a lot of people is the quality of the music. Some people don't mind having poorer quality music as they're not focused so much on the music's sound but on the experience it provides. However, there are others who have to have excellent headphones with plenty of bass. If you don't want to sacrifice sound quality just to get a good pair of headphones that won't slip out when you're sweaty, be prepared to spend a couple extra bucks.

One other thing to consider is the headphone construction. A lot of times when you're using headphones to work out or when you go on a trip, you end up just jamming the mp3 player and headphones into a gym bag or backpack. Usually, this is a quick way to ruin an expensive pair of headphones. However, some of these high-tech, high quality headphones are built with things like Kevlar reinforced cables to stand up to the beating. You'll also want to make sure that the earphones are water resistant. One of the biggest problems with cheap running headphones is that they tend to leak, and whether you're caught in a storm or you just sweat a whole lot, they tend to short out easily.

Running earbuds are a great addition to your running gear and can help take your workout to the next level. Just make sure you do your research before you buy running headphones.
