Samsung P1000 Galaxy Tab
If the decision lies between a Galaxy Tab and an Apple iPad you are asking the question, phone or laptop? If it is the former, the Galaxy Tab is certainly a worth purchase.

The appearance of the newest trend; 'tablets', in the current market are becoming more and more frequent since the arrival of the Apple iPad. Step up challenger number one! It comes as no surprise that the first competitor has come from a company as established Samsung. However, does the new Galaxy Tab have what it takes to challenge for the crown?

What makes the Galaxy Tab?

Immediately we must recognise that, like most of the new top-end Samsung devices, this handset incorporates the Google Android operating system. With this operating system comes a variety of integrated functions such as Gmail, Google Search, YouTube and the Android Marketplace. The Android OS is a great system that will certainly make the Galaxy Tab a smooth and enjoyable device to interact with.

In comparison to its most immediate rival (Apple iPad) there are some clear cut differences. The most noticeable of course is that this is indeed a fully functioning mobile phone. Although the iPad was never intended to be a phone, credit is due to Samsung for creating a device that offers many similar features as well as making a smartphone. The Galaxy Tab is also considerably smaller and lighter than its rival. However be under no illusion, this device is by no means on the small side. The handset also trumps the iPad with a 3.2 mega pixel autofocus camera with LED flash.

In terms of connectivity and internet browsing, this device has quite an ace up its sleeve. All of usual forms are covered; the Galaxy Tab incorporates 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. However, another exciting feature is the support for Adobe Flash 10.1 when browsing webpages. This is something that has always been a criticism of the Apple products.

Samsung is stepping into the tablet market. This should put competition higher as other mobilephone companies and even laptop focused companies will also attempt to make an even greater and powerful type of Digital Tablets.
