Sandra Bullock plays the role of Lisa Edwards in this movie and is a heroine. It was released in 1987 and the story takes place in New York’s East Side. A character by the name of Rob Greene is an ex-green beret that was trained by the CIA and has information on a group of bad guys named The Hangmen. This team of bad guys that are led by a man named Joe Connelly are also CIA agents but once they know that Rob Greene has information on them, they want him dead. Because of this dilemma, Rob warns his 16 year-old son Danny that he may also be in danger for the simple fact that he’s his son. Watch as Danny tries to dodge and escape these dangerous men alongside his father’s military friend and another ex-soldier. In order to get Rob and Danny, Joe decides to come after Danny’s friend Lisa.
Who Shot Patakango?
Here she plays a girl named Devlin Moran who comes from a wealthy family and attends a private school. A character named Bic Bickham who attends a vocational high school in Brooklyn, New York falls in love with Devlin in this story. This film is about a group of coming of age high school teenagers living life in the 50s and in search of a shooter who randomly hits one of them by gunfire. The 1989 release Who Shot Patakango is wistful, nostalgic, and entertaining to watch. For viewers who are into the 1950s time period, this movie is most likely up your alley.
Love Potion No. 9
A young woman by the name of Diane Farrow is played by Sandra and she is a geeky but talented psycho biologist along with her friend and neighbor Paul Matthews. Although they’re both highly educated, these two have absolutely no luck in the romance department. Being an extremely shy guy around girls, Paul decides to visit a gypsy, tell her his issue, and she in return gives him Love Potion No. 8. If anyone drinks of it and speaks to the opposite gender, they will instantly fall in love with them for 4 hours. If anyone drinks of it and speaks to someone of the same gender, that person will loathe and attack them. So he decides to share this with his friend Diane and they both go off on their own to test and gather notes for when they reunite with their results. When they meet up three weeks later after having a wonderful time, they decide to date just for fun without taking the elixir and soon enough, Paul ends up proposing to her. Unfortunately she turns him down because she thinks she’s in love with a guy who only wants to exploit the elixir for money and now Paul is in a dilemma. So he goes back to the gypsy named Madame Ruth, tells her about his problem with the one he loves, and she again gives him a solution to his issue. She hands him Love Potion No. 9 that will bring true love once it’s taken and used on a person of the other gender. It’s now up to him to get his woman back before it’s too late. This specific movie was released in November of 1992 and was distributed by 20th Century Fox.
When the Party's Over
Her role is as a woman named Amanda who is a painter and is one of four friends living together as roommates in Los Angeles, California. Amanda, MJ, Frankie, and a gay man named Banks are in their twenties living their lives when things get a little messy by the actions of MJ who is sleeping with Frankie’s man behind her back. This girl only cares about her career, doesn’t care about her personal relationships/friendships, and grows very jealous of MJ since her boyfriend truly loves her. This drama and comedic movie came out in 1993 and is rated R for its language and inappropriate content.
Fire on the Amazon
In the Amazon jungle, an environmental researcher named Santos is assassinated. Then an American photo-journalist by the name of O’Brien arrives and joins forces with a woman named Alyssa Rothman who worked for Santos in order to find out who killed him. O’Brien now thinks that the police is responsible for murdering an innocent Indian and gets into serious trouble with them and the real assassin causing him to rely on the help of Alyssa and the Indian leader. This all started with him just wanting a good story as a journalist but things get really serious as the story goes on. These two end up falling in love giving you some heated love scenes and this drama was released in 1993 although filmed in 1990. The director of Anaconda is the same one who directed this film as well.
While You Were Sleeping
A woman named Lucy is a subway ticket booth collector who is happy-go-lucky but also a lonely individual. She doesn’t have a family so when she takes a shift at work on Christmas day, she witnesses her crush who is an attorney get mugged. Her crush’s name is Peter and on that shift, he got mugged and thrown onto the tracks. Lucy then manages to save him from death, brings him to a hospital, and he then falls into a coma. While visiting him, she says something that is misinterpreted by a nurse who mentions to Peters’ family that she’s his fiancée. This of course is absolutely false, but Lucy doesn’t have the heart to tell his wonderful family the truth at this time. They then take a liking to her and she ends up spending a lot of time with them, which is something she’s never had. At the same time, Peter’s brother Jack is very suspicious about Lucy being his brother’s fiancée and she ends up falling in love with Jack in this story. What will she do when Peter wakes up from his coma not remembering ever being engaged to Lucy?
Angela Bennett is a young and beautiful software analyst who works at home for a company named Cathedral Software. She’s a computer geek who doesn’t have much of a life with only a few friends online. One day her online friend Dale Hessman sends her a program for her to de-bug and when he flew out that night to meet her for the first time, he gets killed in a plane crash. Moments before leaving for a vacation in Mexico, Angela finds top secret government information on this program which is the start of her nightmare. In Mexico she meets a man named Jack Devlin who she develops a romance with but little does she know he is trying to kill her with a group he’s involved with. When she gets back home, she finds out that her identity has been wiped away and replaced with one that has a criminal past. No one believes her and now she’s faced with trying to get her identity back and figuring out why she’s a target.
Two if by Sea
Roz is the long-time girlfriend of a thief named Frank O’Brien. She’s a Jewish American living in New York working as a cashier. She dreams of settling down and having kids but after seven years with her boyfriend, she wants to break up with him although she’s afraid to do so. Also wanting to leave this lifestyle behind, Frank swears that stealing a four million dollar painting will be his last theft and he brings his girlfriend to New England where he can sell it. He is also hoping to rekindle what they had and salvage their relationship. When they arrive to this town in New England, they break into a large home when the owners of that home are on vacation. The neighbor whose name is Evan Marsh is a sophisticated bachelor who invites them both to a party thinking they know the owners and he grows an attraction for Roz. As Evan and Roz spend time together, Frank gets very upset. In the midst of all of this, he’s being pursued by those who want the painting and those who want him found.
A Time to Kill
Two Caucasian rednecks from Mississippi rape and beat an innocent 10-year-old African-American girl named Tonya Hailey. Her father Carl Lee Hailey is outraged by this and after remembering a previous trial about another African-American girl being raped and her 4 rapists getting acquitted, he then decides to take matters into his own hands. On the day of their arraignments, Carl finds these two men in the courthouse and guns them down in front of witnesses. His daughter can’t even conceive children when she gets older because of what they did to her. Carl is now arrested and chooses his friend and attorney Jake Tyler Brigance to represent him in his trial where a prosecutor is trying to get him a possible death penalty. Meanwhile, all of this is happening in a state where the KKK is among them, and the brother of one of Tonya’s rapists is seeking revenge with this racist group against Carl for killing his brother. Tension is heightened extremely between the NAACP and the KKK’s and Jake’s entire life and family are being threatened by this all-white group for representing his friend as a Caucasian man himself. Ellen Roark is a quality performing law student who is played by Sandra and helping Jake with the case.
In Love and War
Released in 1996, this film is based on the book ‘Hemingway in Love and War’ by Henry S. Villard and it’s based on American author and journalist Ernest Hemingway’s real-life experience in World War I. Henry and Ernest actually knew each other and they both were in the same hospital when this love story between a man and a woman begins. In this movie, Ernest is a young soldier in Italy who volunteered for this position and gets severely injured in a shelling attack. He is then taken into a field hospital where they plan to amputate his leg but by pleading with his nurse Agnes Von Kurowsky, she was able to convince the doctors not to amputate his limb. Over time as she cares for him, Agnes and Hemingway start a romance and by the time he’s ready to go home, he wants to bring her back with him. She refuses his proposal because she took the relationship they had together as just a fling, and him being about 8 years her junior, she tells him he’s too young for her. This is a dramatic and romantic story that did very well at the box office when it came out.
A bomber and extortionist named Howard Payne threatens to kill some people with explosives for money. He is then stopped by a cop named Jack Traven which ruins his plans. Payne blows himself up making people to believe he’s dead but he’s actually still alive. Daring Jack to stop him, Payne plants a bomb on a bus that will go off if it is driven below 50 mph. Annie Porter who is played by Bullock is a passenger on this bus who takes over the wheel and tries to keep it going as Traven figures out how to disarm it and find the guy responsible. This is a 1994 film directed by Jan de Bont which won two Academy Awards for Best Sound and Best Sound Effects of that time and had other nominations. Sandra also won a Saturn Award for Best Actress and won two MTV awards for this movie.
Speed 2: Cruise Control
Speed 2 was released in 1997 and is a sequel to the first film that came out in 1994. Annie Porter is back and her boyfriend Alex Shaw presents her with cruise ship tickets to the Bahamas after lying to her that he was a cop. He lied to her because he knew that she wasn’t interested in dating police officers after what happened in the first movie and he didn’t want that to come between them. While expecting to enjoy a peaceful cruise, that didn’t happen when the ship’s brilliant computer system designer hacks into the system and programs it to sail right into an oil tanker. His reasons for doing this is because he’s seeking revenge after being put away by the company he worked for and he wants to steal the diamonds that are held in the ship’s vaults. It’s now up to Alex to foil his plans and get the ship safely back to shore.
