Baking Soda is an amazing product to have in your home. There are so many different ways you can use this product to keep your home a healthy and happy place to be. Here we will go over some of the most common and useful aspects of this "green" product.

Deodorizing for a happy Home:

A smelly home is rarely a happy home. If you've ever come home and the first thing that hits you when you walk in the door is the smell of your garbage can, then you know what I am talking about. But, have no fear this little green deodorizing machine (or small orange box) can help!

Baking soda can be used inside of trash cans, shoes, cat litter boxes or even dusted on the carpet before vacuuming to help remove odors. You can also place a small box of it in your refrigerator to help get rid of odors.

Natural Green Cleaning:

Very few people really enjoy cleaning and even those that do enjoy it often are not attracted to those strong chemical smells that come with regular non natural and non green cleaners. Here are just a few natural cleaning uses that you can use in your home courtesy of your new friend baking soda!

Spread the baking soda around the bowl of the toilet and leave on for several minutes. Then using a toilet brush scrub away those unsightly stains!

Mix together water and baking soda until it becomes a slightly loose paste-like consistency. Then using a cleaning sponge use this natural green cleaner to clean your counters, sinks, tubs and nearly any other surface you would like to in your home. This mixture can even be used to gently brighten up your tarnished silver!

You can even just sprinkle it directly onto the surfaces to be cleaned and then scrub with a damp sponge and wipe clean.

Natural fruit and Veggie cleanser: Fill up your clean sink with cool water then add 1/4 cup of baking soda and wash off your fruits and vegetables. Rinse with cold water and they are ready to use!

Natural Green Beauty Care:

Green Exfoliation: Using the same method as for cleaning mix water and baking soda together until it becomes thick and pasty, and then using your finger tips rub it on your face using a circular motion to help gently remove dead skin and dirt, leaving your face feeling healthy and refreshed.

Healthy Softening: In a bowl combine 1/3 cup of baking soda and 2/3 cup of plain uncooked oatmeal add water until it becomes paste like and rub gently onto your face. Leave on for 2 to 3 minutes then rinse away with cool water, then pat dry. Your skin will feel amazingly soft and fresh.

Natural Healthy Hair: Sprinkle some baking soda into your shampoo before putting it on your hair once every 3 weeks and then wash and rinse as normal. This is great for people with oily hair as it helps rid the hair of residue, oils and build up. Follow up with a conditioner or conditioning treatment to help re-moisturize the hair.

Oily Hair: Sprinkle a bit of baking soda onto your hands (rub together) or hair brush and then comb through your hair. This is a natural and green way to help eliminate oil build up when you don't have time for a shower or thorough hair cleaning. Just be sure not to use too much otherwise you will end up with white spots that will have to be rinsed to remove.
