Sawgrass Mills Mall Review

By Edited Jul 2, 2016 0 0

OMG...Is This Place For Real!

Sawgrass Mills Mall

I went to South Beach Florida last year to enjoy the warm weather, relax, and surprisingly shop till I dropped! I say surprisingly because what awaited me was a mammoth of a structure full of low prices and hungry shoppers. Sawgrass Mills is the  second outlet mall I have reviewed. The first one was Woodbury Common Premium Outlet

To reach  Sawgras Mills Mall in Sunrise Florida I had to pay $25 for a bus ride. It's quite out-of-the-way and I didn't have a car. If you are down in South Beach or the Miami area forget about a taxi that will be costing you in the $100's!.

I couldn't believe what I found. It is the largest mall in Florida. Some 350 brand name stores covering over 2 million square feet divided into 5 sections. The sections were color coated but didn't represent any type of order in particular. Sawgrass Mills is an outlet shopping mall that also has a billiard, arcade, and movie theaters.

I started out at one of the food courts and ate right away. Now looking back I should have shopped for a while first while there was very few people early in the morning and then ate. I went early but I missed out on grabbing a shopping cart. The crowd in the mall really started to increase at around 12 pm.  So start as early as possible and I would suggest going right to the stores that you are most interested in shopping in as opposed to just browsing.

There were plenty of deals on average 15-20% off an already lowered price. Most local hotels or your travel agent may offer a free coupon book for extra savings. Specifically I found shirts at The Gap at $5 or less and really cheaply priced shoes that were more than 65% off! Sirens had a $5 for anything sale.  I saw people pushing half-sized refrigerator boxes full of clothes in line. The line ups for certain places were terrible but that was the exception not the rule.

I went from 10 am-6 pm and I still couldn't finish going through this beast of a mall. It's the largest indoor mall I have ever seen and a definite experience. If you are in the Fort Lauderdale area and have a day to spend I suggest you pay a visit to Sawgrass Mills. I really enjoyed shopping at their brand name outlets and will visit again.
