Scars are caused by wounds that have been afflicted to the skin by way of injury, an accident or possibly surgery. When you wound heals, the remaining skin that has grown back is called a scar. It is commonly uneven and jagged around the edges, but can sometimes be a flat discolored area on your skin. Using a scar cream that you apply every day to the affected area can help. Although scars that are deeply ingrained on your skin may have to be surgically removed or just left alone and covered by make-up, smaller scars can be visibly reduced.

If the scar is on your face you will want to use an acne scar cream made for the more sensitive skin on this area of your body .These creams aren't quite as strong as the type you would use on a large body scar. They come in smaller tubes. Most cream for scars are used twice daily, but you will need to read the instructions for the type you purchase. Most dermatologists recommend that the cream be used once in the morning and then again before you go to bed. Make sure you completely rub the cream into the are of the scar.Make sure it dries before you put your face against any cloth like your pillow case so it doesn't stain the fabric. Facial scar cream may take a while to work, but most consumers state that they are happy with the results it provides. All scar removal creams work gradually and especially those that are applied to the face.

If you have scars on your body they can be treated with a scar cream that is somewhat stronger. If the scar is large you can use a larger amount of cream without it showing under your clothes. Apply scar cream on your body as many times as the instructions state you should do so. Because these types of scars are less likely to be seen by others, it won't matter if it takes a few extra days to use the scar cream effectively.

Many claim to contain natural ingredients while others boast of containing silicone, which is said to help aide in the removal or visibility of scarring.
