Scary Witches Finger Cookie Recipe

Nothing will freak out your friends and family more than watching you eat what looks like human fingers! Once they figure out they are just cookies, they will be running around freaking out everybody they know and your Halloween cookies will be the talk of the town. Follow this recipe and you will be making spooky witch finger cookies too!

Things You Will Need

  • 1 cup butter,softened
  • 1 cup Icing sugar (powdered sugar)
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 tsp Almond extract
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 2 2/3 cups Flour
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 3/4 cup Almonds, whole blanched
  • 1 Tube red decorator gel

Step 1

In a bowl, mix together your butter, sugar, egg, vanilla and almond extract.

Step 2

Once well mixed, mix in the flour and salt as well. Then refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Step 3

Remove a quarter of the dough from the fridge, roll heaping teaspoons of dough into finger shapes for each cookie.

Step 4

Press an almond on one end of the cookie to look like a fingernail.

Step 5

Squeeze the center of the finger cookie to build a knuckle type shape.

Step 6

Make slashes with a paring knife along the finger is several places to help form the knuckle.

Step 7

Preheat oven to 325F and place fingers on a lightly greased baking sheet.

Step 8

Cook fingers for 20-25 minutes or until they begin to get a golden color.

Step 9

Remove from oven and let rest for 3 minutes to cool off.

Step 10

Lift up the almond slightly and squeeze red decorator gel under the almond to look like blood. Press the almond back down afterwards.

Step 11

Witches Finger Cookies
Remove from baking sheets and let cool on a cooling rack. Repeat the cooking process until all the dough has been cooked.

These are the ones that I've been looking for! The other recipes tend to have the cookies flatten out. I dip the non-nail ends in blackberry or raspberry jam, and the kids love 'em!
