Sciatic Nerve Pain Treatment - Immediate Steps to Stop Your Chair Damaging Your Back!

By | Sep 6, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

The first line of defense against sciatica-Learn how to sit down. The chair you are sitting in as you read this is probably slowly destroying your back!

Posture- The old fashioned advice of sit up straight and support your back simply does not work in these days of a sedentary sitting life style. Find a way to tilt your chair forward.Place some foam on the seat or something under the back legs to cause the chair to tilt forward.

Try sitting on the chair as you slope forward without touching the back rest then carry out this simple test.

Does the seam of your trousers in this position point towards your ears? If its pointing behind your ears you are slouching. It goes against the grain and will do you street cred no good but stick your stomach out. Often you will hear your spine "crack" as it pops back into alignment.

When the seam IS pointing at your ears check the back rest. If the shape f the back of the chair does not fit the new shape of your spine you need to think about changing your chair. A temporary fix place a rolled up towel behind your back. This will prevent to slouching back into a bad position.

So basically tilt your chair forward.

Check your back

Place a support behind you to stop your spine moving back into a bad position.

A forward sloping chair enables most people to assume the correct "S" shape and strengthens the back. It also reduces the stress and strain when leaning forward. Experiment with the tilt until you find the best angle

Bonus Tip Adjust your armrest height: adjust armrest so that they are at the same height as your desk or just below it this prevents you hunching your shoulders. And now I would like to invite you to check out some more suggestions that give immediate results and take away to suffering associated with sciatica.
