Sexy 36DD Bras
Frustrated by the lack of sexy 36DD bras? I was. It took me an entire day to find these, because it's almost impossible to find a 36DD-sized bra that doesn't look like it belongs on a high school lunch lady. And nothing against the folks who prefer the "utility" look of these styles, there's hardly anything sexy about them. For some reason, the fashion and clothing industries have decided that anyone who wears double-d's are not interested in feeling or looking attractive at all.
I discovered this the hard way while bra shopping with my girlfriend. She dragged me into Victoria Secret (not a hard sale on a guy like me - just saying!), only to spend nearly an hour trying on various bras before deciding on the most ghastly, hideous and unattractive thing I've ever seen in my life. And I'm not overexerting here. She is the most beautiful woman in the world, but this bra does a complete injustice to her looks and body. And speaking of her body, I should mention that she is an athlete and a belly dancer, and has the body to match. She has often been mistaken for a professional beach volleyball player. I only mention this because she must be the "enigma" of bra makers - as they clearly believe that anyone with a 36DD chest can not be lean, hard or sexy. Heck, she has six pack abs, yet can't find a sexy bra? What gives? Oh, and her chest is completely natural, she's never had any surgical enhancements.
But you don't have to be a professional athlete to want to look sexy. I know I dug on the "school cafeteria body shape" earlier, but even if you fancy yourself one, you'll still want to feel sexy from time to time, right?
Where To Find Sexy 36DD Bras
I figured I'd be a good boyfriend and find my lady a sexy bra in her size. I told myself: "How hard could this possibly be?" Turned out it was much harder than I expected. I suppose there's a reason why gals with these sized chests have such a difficult time bra shopping.
But at the end of the day, I did find a couple of companies that make sexy bras in this size. And while this probably isnt' an all-inclusive list, hopefully it will help any gals out there looking for sexy 36DD bras - or guys like me who want to buy something special for their lucky ladies. I'll start with the obvious two, but then move on to a couple of places I'd never heard of until recently.
Victoria Secret
While their selection is very sparse for larger cup sizes, you can still find some decent 36DD bras at Victoria Secret. While they seemingly save their super sexy stuff for the smaller chest sizes, Victoria Secret bras are at least sexier than anything you'll find at a traditional clothing or department store. The other thing it has going for it is the name; I've learned that women love wearing Victoria Secret underwear. And if a brand makes someone feel sexy, why not?
Frederick's Of Hollywood
This was the first place I checked, considering I had already been in a Victoria Secret for the better part of an afternoon. Besides, they sent so many free catalogs to my house when I was a kid that my mind automatically translates "Sexy Women's Underwear" to "Frederick's Of Hollywood." I checked out the store's website (www.Fredericks.com) and found pretty much what I expected, a bunch of super slinky lingerie. While Frederick's also had the "as you get bigger, you get un-sexier" curve, they had plenty more options in the 36DD size. Of course they call it "full figure" and even "plus size," which irritates the heck out of me, again because they assume anyone with a 36DD chest must take up the entire sidewalk.
Cleo by Panache
Somehow I ended up on the website of a company that seemingly specializes in making sexy bras for larger sizes - it was what looks like the parent company (Panache - www.panache-lingerie.com) for several lines, including my personal favorite: Cleo (www.cleo-lingerie.com).
Cleo has some really awesome designs, and offers super sexy bras in sizes that would blow your mind. In fact, this is actually where I found the bra I bought my girlfriend, it was the "Penny" model (are different bra designs called "models?" Obviously I'm a little uninitiated to buying women's underwear). It's the one shown in the picture here.
Cleo has several other "models" to choose from - six in all - and they all look great. I've already got a couple bookmarked for the next time I'm in buyer-mode.
Atlantis by Panache
Atlantis (www.atlantis-lingerie.com) is another company under the Panache umbrella that makes some really sexy 36DD (and other larger sized) bras. Unlike the Cleo stuff, which was basically lingerie in nature, the Atlantis line specializes in sexy and functional. Their stuff is very slinky and feminine, but was designed to wear all day under your regular clothes.
My personal favorite was the "Enhanced Collection." These bras had that distinctive Victoria Secret combination of sexy and functional. If you're looking for something new to put into your day-to-day bra drawer that still makes you feel sexy, this is where I'd look first.
Superbra by Panahce
Can you tell that I hit a goldmine with the offerings from Panache? Anyway, the Superbra line (www.panache-superbra.com) is the last Panache line I'll mention, even though there are a few more.
The Superbra looks like it offers more hard-core support than the Cleo or Atlantis, which, in my mind, does detract from the overall sexiness, but offsets that with what I would imagine would be a more comfortable fit.
Honestly, the Superbra stuff seemed to have that "department store" look to them, but the big difference is that department stores don't carry these designs in DD cup sizes - so if you want an off-the-shelf sexy bra, this might be a great option.
Lovefifi
The bras offered by Lovefifi (www.lovefifi.com) are definately on the lingerie side of the equation - I don't suppose they'd be very comfortable (or functional) for normal day-to-day activities; BUT (and this is a big 'But') if you want to feel sexy in the bedroom, you can't beat form-over-function lingerie like the stuff Lovefifi makes.
The Notorious Demi Bra offered through Lovefifi is my particular favorite, and it's also on my "what to buy my girlfriend in the future" list.
One great "up vote" for Lovefifi over the Panache bras is that you can order Lovefifi bras on Amazon. That's super handy considering I had to jump through a bunch of hoops to buy the Cleo bra. Specifically, I had to find a store that stocks them (they do help you do this on the Panache website), contact that store, then order the bra - complete with retail markup and high shipping prices.
Final Considerations
Hopefully this article has helped you a sexy 36dd bra, or at least given you some ideas. Like I said, I honestly had no idea that finding sexy bras for larger chest sizes would be nearly as difficult as it was, and figured I'd pass along my findings to anyone who found themselves in a similar situation.
I would like to point out, however, that I don't know the first thing about bras - well, other than drooling ahem, looking at them. As such, I can't offer any insights into how these bras fit, how well they hold up during day-to-day or even bedroom activities or how comfortable they feel against the skin. As a guy, I won't ever begin to understand the complexities of women's underwear, and I don't want you to think that I'm an expert - as I certainly am not. I'm just a guy who spent an entire afternoon trying to help his double D girlfriend feel sexy.
