If you are really keen of DIY type then, what you can do when it comes to having maintenance check on your car. You need to put a bottle's worth of fuel de-icer right into the gas tank in order to avoid the lines from freezing. It is highly recommended that you do perform oil change once in a while especially when it is winter time. You need to check into your manual as to when you do need to have an oil change. At an average, you need to perform maintenance once every 3,000 miles.
When its winter season, you need to focus on defrosting your windows to keep you safe especially when you are driving around the streets filled with snow. Check on the defroster as well as the heater if both are in proper and good working condition. As far as your heating system is concerned, you need also to check your cooling system especially the levels of the antifreeze. It is a must that you do check on these two systems often in order to keep your car up in good balance. Another thing that you should do is to check as well as clean up the battery often. If you can see corrosion built up right between the connections, you need to get rid of them and ensure that the connections are tight.
