Shoes and You
If you're a Sex and the City fan then you know how the right shoes can make a girl's (or boy's) day. The rest of the outfit can be a mish mash consisting of a thrift store t-shirt and a designer skirt but the shoes must be something special to pull the ensemble together.
Not everyone can afford a pair of Manolo Blahniks though so what other option is there? Well if flying to Thailand for a cheap knock off isn't your cup of tea (or the law's) then you can consider EBay for a vintage pair or shop around vintage stores. Another alternative is to look out for up and coming designers that are making new and fresh pieces at an affordable cost nor you can latch on to the latest craze taking place- "swap meets". There are swap meets especially catered for women and their clothing and shoes. If there's not one going in your area you could organise one! A quick Google will tell you all you need to know about how to go about one. Just remember - a clever fashionista accessorises their outfit in such a way that the whole thing just looks natural, thrown together, yet seamless!
It is important to match the shoes to the outfit, although a red dress does not necessarily mean red shoes are a must. Depending on the style of the dress, strappy black heels could do nicely as could silver or even a pale neutral beige. In this case you could tie the silver shoes in with a glittery silver clutch or black shoes in with a black sequined purse. A tasteful but different piece of jewelry, like a brooch, could really set this all off.
Another thing to consider is the style you are trying to achieve. A short flirty skirt goes well with a peep-toe style while a long formal style dress is probably best with a strappy sandal style heel.
Shoes can do wonders for an outfit and get you into places you might not have otherwise. The right shoes can 'dress up' a pair of jeans in a way flip flops never can and a simple red pump can make the plainest black dress suddenly have "wow" factor.
With all of this though, the most important thing you can do to make sure your outfit is complete is to treat yourself to a pedicure. Crusty, cracked heels with a sexy sling back heel are a no no as are naked or un-buffed toes showing through your pretty peep-toe shoes!
