Shopping For A Portable Propane Heater
Before you know it, winter and the cold is going to sneak up on you. You might be reading this with your air conditioner on, but trust me; old man winter will be back.
Remember last year when you might have been working around the house or you got hit with an artic blast and your home was very cold? You thought about getting a portable propane heater for those days, but you got to busy to get around to getting one.
Well now would be the time to go online and start to shop and compare prices on portable heaters.
Should you use propane or electricity? I think propane is superior in several ways. First using propane as a fuel vs. electricity is a lot cheaper. Plus you have a power outage, how will you run your electric heater when you need it most?
Propane heaters come in wide variety of sizes. You can find ones that will heat a small room or just give you a little extra heat for camping and fishing. If you have a larger area to heat, say a warehouse or large work area, you can find a propane heater that will do the job for you.
So what should you be looking for? Decide where you will be using it the most. You can compare the size of the heat output by comparing BTUs. If you are looking to heat a small room, a BTU rating of 2,000-5,000 BTUs should be good enough. This type of heater will probably come with a 1-pound cylinder. Depending on the model you buy, that can usually last for up to 5 hours on a low setting. Speaking of which, that is something you will want to look for too. Does it have different settings? This will allow you to adjust the output of the heater. This feature can save you money since you will be burning less propane gas.
If you need a larger heater, you can find these that are portable too. These will heavier to move about, but one man can do it. There are propane heaters that can put out 35,000 BTUs and more. A 35,000 BTU heater can warm up an 800 square foot room. Connected to a 20-lb tank, it can run up to 13 hours on the low setting.
So there you have some ideas for a new portable propane gas heater. Take your time now to do some more research to find the right one for you.
