By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

Blue wedding dresses may seem like it is the most outrageous thing on the planet at first. However, the old adage goes "Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue". This is supposed to bring a bride good luck on her wedding day. You can combine all of these elements into one dress.

Different colors have become very popular in the last few years for wedding dresses. Brides want something that they feel good and look good in. This can coordinate with the theme of your wedding or just the time of year. This is something to consider if you really want everyone to gasp when you walk down the aisle and constantly be looking at you because your dress has many different elements to it.

You want to consider how this is going to work with your overall wedding party. This is something that is very important because it's going determine the overall look of your photos. For instance, if all of your bridesmaids are also wearing blue then you can blend in. In this case you are going to need to go with a very grand dress if all of your bridal party is in blue. You can also use different shades of blue.

The other option would be to really change up things and put them all in white for a very striking kind of contrast. You also need to consider what the groom is going to wear. Of course, if you really want to stand out then you can just keep him in a traditional tuxedo but you can also change up his color palette, although blue probably isn't the way to go. You can also add in this color onto his vest and tie for a traditional kind of look. You can also just go for a lighter colored suit if this is a very basic kind of casual style. You really need to consider the overall picture so that you do stand out and people can tell that you're the bride but you still get what you want.

You can also try blue and white wedding dresses. This can be more traditional over time. You do want to find something that when you wear it you look trendy. However, it seems that it is also important to consider durability because you're going to have these pictures forever. You want to make sure that you aren't embarrassed by your choices a few years down the road.

An easy way to do this is just to combine the color palettes. This can have almost an ethereal kind of feeling. This is important because right now a lot of organza layers are extremely popular. This creates more of a flowing or bohemian silhouette. It can also really be reminiscent of the Jane Austen days. This really isn't a huge ball gown, instead it's more of a sleeker silhouette that is still soft and feminine. If some of the layers of blue just peek out it can add a little bit of detail as you walk.

Another consideration is to go with wedding dresses with blue in them. You can really add this in yourself if you just have a plain white dress. This is perfect for a modern wedding. You could even just add a brooch at your waist or even just an oversized flower. Another option would just be to go with a lace jacket over a white dress. You could tie it with a blue ribbon or even just use a light blue jacket that had some white pattern on it to coordinate. This is going to really be a little bit more colorful for garden weddings and you aren't going to get lost in all of the flowers. People are still going to notice you. It's important that you just really relate back to the scenery and the location of your big day for a cohesive kind of look. At the same time it still needs to be special and something that you are very comfortable in.

Sashes are also a very popular option. This can be white or just a very simple ribbon. It's an easy way to add color into your dress. In fact you could just go with the traditional white dress for the ceremony and then change it up and go with a sash for the reception. This can even be quite thick and it works very well with fitted silhouettes because it really does show off your figure. This is one of the more subtle ways to bring in color on your gown.

This kind of thing can also help you save a lot of money. There are two ways that this can go depending on your budget. Finding this color can be so difficult that it's really going to be to your advantage to get a custom wedding gown. Having this made can be a little bit nerve-racking because you never know how it's going to turn out and it may cost a lot of money. Plus, you can't try it on beforehand so you have no idea how it's actually going to look on you.

To save money just try going with a very high end prom dress or even a bridesmaids dress. This can be more casual in feeling and it can also save you a lot of money. At the same time you'll want to know how you're going to coordinate this with your veil because either the dress is going to need to have white in it or you're going to need to have one custom made or dyed for a more cohesive kind of look.

Another really important consideration is that of a trendy kind of look. When Gwen Stefani got married she had a beautiful white gown and it was white at the top and then at the bottom it just kind of faded into pink like it had almost been dipped into paint. This is a way to really get a very striking look that is traditional and popular at the same time. Plus it's something that most people probably haven't seen before. The other way that you can really add this into the mix is to go with embroidery or sequins. If you keep these in a light blue and mix them in with the white crystals this can be a very subtle effect and people won't notice it. You will however still know that you're a little bit of a rebel for having color on your dress.
