Most shops in Barcelona accept cash and credit cards. Residents from outside the European Union may have their Value Added Tax (VAT) returned for purchases

Passeig del Born

In the Passeig del Born area you there are a lot of fashionable boutiques in the small streets, but you can also find food, beverages and household items in this area.


L'Eixample is the most exclusive shopping area of Barcelona. Around Plaga Fracese and in the Passeig de Gracia you will find the world famous fashion houses, galleries and art dealers.

Avinguda del Portal de l'Angel

In the Avinguda del Portal de l'Angel, near the famous square Plaça de Catalunya, you'll find lots of stalls, where local Catalan delicacies are sold. You will also find many fashion shops that sell clothes, shoes and bags. A visit to the famous department store El Corte Ingles is a must.

El Triangle shopping mall is located on Plaça de Catalunya and in this mall you will find chains such as FNAC, Sephora and Habitat.

Shopping Diagonal Mar

The Diagonal Mar Shopping Mall is the largest shopping mall in Barcelona. Here you will find over 150 different brands in an area of over 947,224 square feet.


The Maremagnum mall is located at the end of Las Ramblas, one of Barcelona's most famous streets. In this shopping mall you will find bars, clubs, restaurants and various shops. Close to the shops you will find also the Barcelona Aquarium.


Mercat de la Boqueria

The most famous market in Barcelona is Mercat de la Boqueria, where you will find hundreds of stalls, selling everything from fruit and vegetables to local treats from the delicious Catalan cuisine.

Mercat de la Concepcio

Gardeners should visit the Mercat de la Concepcio, where they can find many varieties of flowers, plants and seeds. The Mercat de la Concepcio is one of the oldest markets in Barcelona.

Mercat del Encants

Mercat del Encants is the best known and largest flea market in Barcelona. You can really find everything at this flea market, from bikes, videos and clothes to books and furniture. Arrive early if you are looking for real bar gains and if you can't stand big crowds, then don't visit this market on Saturdays.

A lot of stalls on this market are closed in August.
