Short formal dresses are becoming a preferred ensemble for gatherings such as cocktails mainly because of the comfort they provide and the styles they come in. It is of great wonder how very little fabric can go a long way and actually become an extremely beautiful piece of clothing that can be worn on very special occasions. If you are a woman of style and exquisite taste, you will not be able to help yourself to peruse oodles of formal dresses and try each and every single one of them.

Wearing short formal dresses is a great choice if you want to be extremely comfortable during high profile events and would not want to be concerned with the possibility of tripping and falling on your face during cocktail hour. Most women would compromise their comfort in order to look good thinking that length is everything in formal wear. On the contrary, wearing dresses with lesser lengths are very stylish especially if you wear the right pair of shoes and have the right accessories for accentuation. You cannot go wrong with short dresses as long as they come in good quality fabrics and can fit you perfectly.
Shopping for formal dresses can be a daunting task especially if you do not have a certain look in mind. Before you go out and shop for a dress, you should at least have an idea on how you want to look at the event. If you are looking to project an elegant and classy look, you can be all set with a short black piece that you can accentuate with a necklace and a dangly bracelet. On the other hand, if you are going for a fresher and younger look that says you are hip but cultures, it is best to go with lighter tones that will not age you.

There are short formal dresses in specialty stores called boutiques that you can buy for a very reasonable price and they really are of high quality so you will not have to worry about getting a tear right in the middle of getting up the stage or while dancing to the endless Kenny G medley. At this point they would be called more appropriately boutique dresses. You can also opt for short designer dresses which are a lot pricier but will certainly add a lot of class to your repertoire. In any case, you should be able to pick one that is comfortable to wear and appropriate for the event.
