Shortcuts to Weight loss pt 1

Everywhere we turn today whether it be TV, the Internet, radio, billboards or magazines. We are inundated by a seemingly endless array of companies peddling pills, diets, exercise plans all promising the secret to rapid and even effortless weight loss. You may have even tried some of them knowing that deep down if it was this easy then it couldn't possibly work. So are there any true miracle cures or solutions to weight loss? Yes and No. It all depends on what you mean when you say weight loss because there are two kinds. Sustainable long term weight loss and quick fix short term solutions.

The problem with miracle cure rapid weight loss is that it is unsustainable causing an inevitable bounce back of weight gain. Everyone wants to lose weight fast right? Well you didn't gain the weight overnight and you won't lose it overnight either. Some of the "miracle cures" offer something that guarantees a claim something like "lose 10 pounds in 10 days" which the company may indeed be able to substantiate, but the real question is 10 pounds of what? The human body is made up of water, muscle, fat, bone and organs. If you talk to any health care professional they will tell you that the most fat your body can safely burn is approximately 2 to 3 pounds a week. So if you are losing more than that in a week you are losing water and muscle. This is bad, really bad, because when you lose muscle tissue your body burns less calories when your body is in a resting state, therefore making it even easier to gain weight. This is often referred to as yo-yo dieting because it has the effect on your body weight of going up and down with each bounce back getting a little bigger.

The key to weight loss success all begins in you mindset. Many people who are overweight have tried doing it the hard way and fail, so they look for an easier quicker way to success. This attitude lines the pockets of companies in the weight loss business. It is a ----billion dollar a year industry for a reason. With weight loss, slow and steady wins the race every time, period. So start with the mindset of changing your lifestyle, not just changing yourself for the next two weeks, and you will be taking a weight loss short cut. When your family and co-workers are still yo-yoing and treading water you will be speeding along towards your weight loss goals.
