DC24 Vs DC41
The following article is a brief objective comparison review between that of the Dyson DC24 Upright Vacuum cleaner and that of the Dyson DC41 Upright Vacuum cleaner, highlighting both their differences as well as their similarities in respect to their specifications and features, along with a conclusion as to which vacuum is 'better', the DC24 or the DC41? And a final verdict as to which vacuum offers the best value for money, given your specific needs and preferences.
The Differences in the Cleaning Performance
DC24: Constant Cleaning Suction Power -- 100 Air Watts
DC41: Constant Cleaning Suction Power -- 255 Air Watts
As can be seen there is a clear difference in the constant suction cleaning performance -- where the DC41 is 'more than' two and half times more powerful than that of the Dyson DC24, with a difference of 155 Air Watts between them. This is obviously a large factor to take into consideration when weighing up which is the better vacuum for you. Where the DC41 offers itself as the most powerful upright Dyson in their entire range, whereas the DC24 is not that much more powerful than the cordless Digital Slim vacuums (difference of 35 Air Watts between a DC24 and DC44).

The Differences in the 'Fitted' Technology
DC24: Root Cyclone Technology
DC41: Radial Root Cyclone Technology
The Dyson DC24 has been fitted with Root Cyclone technology that prevents the user from experiencing loss of suction, however the DC41 has been fitted with the new upgraded and re-worked Radial Root Cyclone Technology which like the standard version prevents the user from loss of suction but can also pick up even finer particles of debris and dust.
The Differences in Manoeuvrability
DC24: Upright Vacuum. Dyson Ball. Weight -- 5.4 kg.
DC41: Upright Vacuum. Dyson Ball. Weight -- 7.8 kg.
Both the DC24 and the DC41 have been fitted with the rather cool Dyson Ball technology that can allow a user to rapidly twist and turn the vacuum on a dime, rather than having to be dragged back and forth like that of traditional fix wheeled vacuum cleaners. Moreover, due to the weight factor, i.e the DC24 vacuum is lighter by 2.4 kg, it does edge it in this regard -- offering itself as being more mobile.

The Differences in Practicality
DC24:Size - H: 74.6 x W: 34.9 x D: 28.1 cm. Cord - 6.1 m. Reach - 8.75 m. Bin - 0.85 litres.
DC41:Size - H: 107.1 x W: 39.4 x D: 34 cm. Cord - 9.4 m. Reach - 14 m. Bin - 2.1 litres.
Here is another major distinction between the DC24 and the DC41 -- the size and storage capabilities, as you can see the DC24 is a lot smaller than the DC41 and will hence lend itself to those who consider storage as an issue. This being said, in terms of vacuuming practicalities, the DC24 is performs relatively poorly when compared to the DC41 -- from the cord length to its max reach (telescope hose) -- and particularly the bin storage aspect.
If you are looking for a vacuum somewhere in between (size and practicality) I suggest you check out the DC24 vs DC40 review -- the DC40 is a lot smaller than the DC41 but still slightly larger than the DC24, so it still lends itself nicely to those who consider storage an issue but also offers a lot more respectable vacuuming practicalities, like that of the DC41.
The Differences in Accessories
DC24: Combination Tool. (Mini Turbine Head).
DC41: Combination Tool. Stair Tool. (Mini Turbine Head).
Both the DC24 and DC41 come with the standard combination tool, which is essentially a crevice tool to allow you to get in and clean awkward gaps, which can also become a duster when the brush nozzle is pulled down. The DC41 also comes with the stair tool. Moreover, if you were to buy the animal version either the DC24 Animal or the DC41 Animal -- you also get the specifically enigineered pet hair tool -- the mini turbine head.
You can now also get a hold of the Dyson DC41 Animal Complete that comes with a whole host of extra accessories and attachments -- 'tangle free turbine tool', 'soft dusting brush', 'multi-angle brush' and 'stiff brush' along with the standard accessories of the 'crevice tool' and 'combination tool'.
Both come with finger tip control to allow the user to automatically adjust the cleaner head to the type of flooring (either hard or soft flooring) in which it either raises or lowers the motor cleaning head in order to get a more optimal clean.
Both are also attached with a lifetime washable HEPA filter to prevent allergens and dust particles from being expelled into the air.
The DC41 comes with the quick-draw enabled telescope which simply requires one full movement, whereas the DC24 has the standard reversible wand -- which is a bit more difficult to remove.
Should You Buy the Dyson DC24 or the DC41?
DC24 (multi-floor):$399.99 (animal):$449.99
DC41 (animal):$599.99 (animal complete):$649.99
I think it is fairly easy to say which is the better vacuum out of the two -- the DC41, where it pretty much out performs the DC24 in almost every regard, except in terms of storage space (which I would suggest you get the DC40) as well as in terms of weight and mobility, although I don't believe it would make that much of a difference to the user experience (if it does, again still get the DC40).
Which vacuum offers you the best overall value? The DC41 Animal Complete -- despite it being $200 more expensive (contrasting the DC24 animal vs DC41 animal complete) you really are getting a whole lot more for your money:
- A more powerful vacuum cleaner -- 255 Air Watts compared to 100 Air Watts!
- Improved Technology -- e..g Radial RCT vs Standard RCT
- Better Vacuuming Practicality -- better cord, max reach length and bigger bin
- A lot more useful Dyson attachments & accessories, which if bought separately would amount to $155 by their seldom (plus it comes with the new Dyson tangle free turbine, which is thought to be the new improvement on the mini turbine head for pet hair).
