Shrimp Recipes - A Fantastic Shrimp Salad Recipe!
Every week I add a new recipe to my shrimp recipes collection. I have just been away on holiday, and took the time to visit my auntie who taught me the most delicious shrimp salad recipe ever! I forgot how much I liked this particular one which I haven't made in a long, long time! All my shrimp recipes are based in hot dishes, so I was definitely missing on a salad for my collection. To be honest, I am not so keen on shrimp salads, but I can assure you this very simple recipe is so great you will definitely impress your friends and family - and yourself! Watch out if you are on a diet, though; this recipe needs quite a bit of mayonnaise for full flavor.
These are the ingredients you will need:
1 iceberg lettuce
1 tin pineapple
1/2 jar light mayonnaise
Juice of 1/2 orange
1/2 tsp English mustard
1 tbsp ketchup
For all my shrimp recipes I always by fresh shrimp. I like to boil it myself with a bay leaf, but it is entirely up to you if you want to skip this step.
The trick to create a great shrimp salad recipe is to make sure the salad is kept in the fridge at least four hours before consumption as it will make the salad a lot tastier.
Cut the lettuce as if making your regular salad; not too big and not too small. Place in a see-through bowl. Open the pineapple tin and cut it in small triangles. Add to the bowl. Wash your peeled shrimp and add. Grind the walnuts or place in cling film, fold it and use a kitchen hammer to grind it; I like leaving small bits for crunchiness.
In a separate bowl, add the mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup and the juice of half an orange. Fold it nicely and add to the salad.
Mix everything inside the bowl, add salt and pepper and place in the fridge. Remember to keep it at least for four hours. Serve in separate bowls.
I assure you with this very simple dish you will definitely impress your guests. Add it to your favorite shrimp recipes; and don't tell your guests the exact ingredients; let them guess. I always do that at the dinner table as it is great entertainment to see what people come up with when it comes to talking about their own shrimp recipes!
