Side Effects of Insomnia
Though insomnia is not a disease, it should be immediately treated because it has serious side effects that can further complicate a person's life and those around them. Given the fact that the brain is constantly working during the day non stop and the body depends on it to function, it deserves to rest at least 8 hours of continuous sleep at night. If the brain will still be working at the designated resting hours, the body will suffer tremendously.
The body eventually growing weaker each sleepless day is another side effect of insomnia. If the brain cannot rest properly, so does the body. Since the body depends to the brain's command so it can function properly, the body will be less immune to diseases. Stress related diseases will start sprouting as the body becomes weak.
Another side effect of insomnia is the inability to control emotions. Mood swings and tantrums will be uncontrollable therefore affecting the people who are closest to the sufferer – sometimes even strangers can fall victim to their tantrums.
Insomniac can be dragged down to depression because lack of sleep will amplify all the worries that the sufferer already has. Controlling depression during the day can be easy, but as the lights go off and everyone is asleep and the sufferer is left with no one but his thoughts, the current problem he already has may flare up. This kind of side effect may even lead to insanity or mental breakdown.
Failure to be attentive to details is also a devastating side effect of insomnia. The sufferer can lose the ability to focus on instructions and can even make them more prone to accidents or mishaps.
The side effects of insomnia may not be too bothering at first and may even still seem to appear normal. But if the problem is left hanging in a corner without proper medication, things can change drastically and the sufferer's relationship with other people may suffer.
If these side effects of insomnia are starting to manifest, you have to open yourself to reality and face the problems bothering you rather than fretting about it. It may be hard to do so, but you have to do everything so you can relax. If the problem has already gone worse, it will be the best option to go consult a doctor and ask him for medication. There are actually pills that can help you cope with insomnia and regulate your messed up sleeping pattern.
