Step-by-Step Instructions to Make a Simple Rice Pudding
If you like desserts, you will love this simple rice pudding recipe. It is delicious to eat, easy to make, and your family will thank you for making this tasty dessert. Simple rice pudding is so quick and easy to prepare, you and your family will be enjoying it often. Simple rice pudding is also an economical dish to make and to serve. Since simple rice pudding is baked, make it when you are using the oven for a roast, casserole, or anything that needs to bake for a while. That way, you’ll be cooking your dessert right along with the main course - two for the price of one. Since you will be using your oven to the max, cooking this way, this will save energy, and of course, save you money.
Gather the ingredient to make this simple rice pudding recipe.
3 cups milk
½ cup white-rice, not instant
½ cup granulated sugar
1 tsp. lemon juice
¼ tsp. salt
¼ tsp. nutmeg
raisins are optional
Pour the milk into an oven safe glass casserole dish. Add the rest of the ingredients, and using a spoon, mix until the sugar has dissolved. Raisins may be added if your family likes them.
Place the simple rice pudding in a preheated oven, and bake at 300 degrees for 1 ½ hours or until the liquid is absorbed. When baking the simple rice pudding with other foods, adjust the length of cooking time according to the temperature. When baking at a higher temperature, bake it for a shorter time. Over 350 degrees is not suggested for this recipe. About halfway through the baking time, stir the simple rice pudding again.
Serve the simple rice pudding hot or cold. My family particularly likes it served hot, with a scoop of ice cream in the center, and extra nutmeg sprinkled on top. This recipe makes four good adult servings. If adding ice cream, the simple rice pudding can be stretched to five servings.

Typically, I use brown-rice in most recipes I make, but for some reason, brown-rice does not absorb the milk as well. And if you are trying to cut back on sugar usage, use 1/3 to 1/2 cup of sugar. Keep modifying the sugar until you get the sweetness you desire.
