Simple Steps to Buying the Perfect Wedge Shoes for Your Party Dress

By | 0 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

There is that one specific outfit we all have in our closet that fits us perfectly and makes us look fantastic. Accessorizing that outfit means getting the most ideal pieces to offset the style. The best jewelry, or the most understated, to dazzle everyone is an important part. Fixing our hair in the most attractive style also helps. One other thing that makes an outfit ideal; the perfect pair of shoes.

Picking a shoe that clashes, or is uncomfortable, might spoil the effect of the outfit. Wear a pair of tennis shoes with a suit and it looks terrible right? This is just one example of how shoes can make or break your outfits. Common sense is all most of us need, however, if you're unsure there are some little things to watch out for when it comes to choosing the perfect shoe for your outfit.

Formal dresses and skirts usually look better with leather or satin heels. If you're choosing wedge heels, which I recommend for comfort, you can go a little higher without much discomfort. Wedges have support system under the arch which helps keep you balanced in higher heels. There are rare exceptions, however, most of the time the higher heel looks best with formal dresses. Pumps are fine, but try to avoid flats. Although some shoes are fantastic, you don't want to outshine the dress. Try pairing a more simple shoe with a beaded dress, for example. Color is an important choice as well as style.

Buying colorful wedges is a science of sorts. While there is nothing wrong with pairing a pink wedge shoe with a black party dress, people may be more inclined to check out your shoes than your dress. If you found the most incredible pink shoes, add splashes of pink to your dress so the look comes together. A pink sash around the waist or a pink clutch and jewelry can make the difference between noticing your fabulous frock, or pointing out your shoes all night. Other things to remember when wearing colorful shoes are:

  1. Multi-colored dresses look best with singular colored shoes, and vice versa

  2. Certain colors look better contrasted, rather than blending. For example; red and black or silver and white.

  3. Wedges look great with any style of dress, as long as the heel isn't rubber or woven natural fibers. They also look better when the heel matches the upper.

  4. Dyed shoes look really fantastic when matched with brighter color dresses. If you just bought a fuchsia dress, try and buy a dyeable pair of shoes and get them to match the dress.

  5. The longer the dress, the more the shoes need to match and blend in with it. You don't want bright purple shoes sticking out of the toe of your long white dress.

A few simple steps to buying your new shoes will make a huge difference in the overall look of them. If you're buying online, you may not get a chance to visually compare. If that is the case, you'll want to visit a local paint shop and get swatches to hold up alongside your dress.
