Simplifying facts about a thermal transfer label
A thermal transfer label is usually produced by a process of cooling and heating which eventually results in the production of a label in apiece of cloth, plastic or on paper.
Thermal transfer printing is normally used in marking labels on clothing, chemical containers and other types of plastic containers. Laser printing is not used for printing labels in most plastic materials because some plastic materials would easily melt when exposed to laser light.
The thermal transfer printer used for labeling plastic containers, clothing and bar codes is in many ways different from the laser printer. Primarily, the thermal transfer printer uses a ribbon that melts on the material where the print is to be made. On the other hand, a laser printer does not use a ribbon.
During thermal transfer printing, the printer head of the thermal printer will be pressed onto a piece of paper or plastic. Normally, in between the print head and the material where printing is done is a thin ribbon, which will be called a foil in some cases. When the ribbon is melted, the ink that is contained in the ribbon will drip onto the label. When this is done, the desired imprint would have been made on the label. After the heating of the ribbon is done, cooling immediately takes place and the ink on the label is dried with the fastest speeds. In fact, the process of cooling and drying in a thermal print head takes place very quickly at a minimum 203 dpi.
Most thermal printers are 300 dpi. However, there are others which are203dpi, but they are still as efficient as the 300 dpi. Nowadays, there are even 600 dpi printers. These sought of printers are normally used by electronic equipment making companies to print barcodes. The barcodes found on the battery area of the mobile phone are normally made using 600 dpi printers. The 600 dpi printer will also do well when printing roll-up banners.
