Stokke Sleepi Is Versatile And Will Last For Many Years
The Sleepi is an amazing crib made by Stokke. One of the nicest things about the Sleepi crib is that it can be used from the time your baby is a newborn, until they are about 10 years old. Even after that, it can be easily converted to be a daybed or a little couch that might go great in your playroom. The Sleepi allows you to connect various wooden pieces in order to create a customized size of bed for your child. I think this is one of the smartest and most innovative ideas for a baby crib that I have ever seen. I thought that I had seen an idea similar to this in a baby furniture store, but I don't think it was this good of quality or built to have this many different options. The Stokke Sleepi is one of the hottest baby cribs available, and it's easy to see why.
For starters, the Sleepi is perfect for your newborn. Â Many new moms opt to keep their newborn in a small bassinet or similar sleeping arrangements to help the baby feel more secure. Sleepi realized this and help ensure that you would have a safe, small bed for baby as soon as they came home from the hospital. Four wooden sides connect to form a mostly round crib that is small enough to fit just about anywhere. This is especially convenient for new moms were breast-feeding and want to keep their baby close at night. It has wheels at the bottom so that you can wheel your baby from room to room so that you can be close at all times. Â I can even push it down my ridiculously narrow hallways without a problem. The mattress of the Sleepi can be raised and lowered as your little one gets older and begins to sit up or pull himself up. This setting is good for babies up to six months of age.
The Sleepi gets a little bit bigger with the addition of additional wooden panels and then, it looks like a typical crib, but rounded. Personally, I love the rounded look; it looks modern and beautiful. Of course, the height of the mattress can still be raised and lowered as necessary to keep baby safe. This setting is appropriate for babies up to 18 months, and for those who prefer, you can skip the round bassinet setting for newborns, and go straight to this setting. Personally, I prefer to experiment with both, and see what I like best. It is not too difficult to upgrade your Sleepi to the next size; it really only takes a few minutes.
According to Stokke, the next phase of the Sleepi adjustable crib is appropriate for children up to three years of age. Basically, you remove one of the wooden sides to allow for more freedom. This makes the Sleepi a lot like a toddler bed. Be careful to make sure that you feel completely comfortable allowing your toddler this much freedom before you make this adjustment. If your baby is a climber, you may not have much of a choice anyway. I have always felt that there is a fine line between ensuring safety and promoting independence. Either way, once you feel that your child is ready to move up to a toddler bed, this setting is perfect. It encases your little one on three out of four sides, and even a little bit on the fourth side to provide an extra measure of safety and security. This helps eliminate the chance of rolling out of bed, although it still can happen.
While I have not personally tried the fourth adjustable phase, the Sleepi can adjust to an almost full-size youth bed. It can also be adjusted to function as a daybed or a miniature couch. I have the feeling that when we get to this point, its main function will be toy storage. ;)
It can also be adjusted to form two small chairs, which is also a plus in the bedroom or playroom. If I happen to have my sister over for the weekend with her new baby, I can quickly transform this back into the newborn Sleepi crib setting so that she can use it for her baby. Talk about money well spent! The Sleepi looks beautiful, has quality craftsmanship and is built to last. Like most moms, I have come to expect this high level of quality from Stokke baby products.
