Slimming Underwear for Men
Mention the words “man girdle” to a guy and chances are, he won’t be caught dead wearing one. However, if the item is rebranded as shapewear undergarment for men, you’ll probably have the adventurous metrosexuals curious.
Slimming underwear for men have been around for a long time and dapper gentlemen from the early 19th century wore them as a status symbol to differentiate themselves from the regular folk. Unfortunately, due to gender stereotypes, men gradually shied away from this type of body shapewear. Currently, as the younger male generation grows more liberal, men’s shapewear is getting to be a popular item for the guys in the underwear drawer. Young men are taking pride in their appearance and are following what the women have done for years: fake your first date out with slimming underwear.
The ideal male figure has always been someone with a six pack abdomen, slim hips and a tight rear end. That’s a hard ideal for the regular Joe to live up to. Men now have the option to buy compression underwear that will hide that beer gut. Before, men did not have the opportunity and some guys even took to such lengths as to wrapping their tummy up with ace bandages to impress a girl on a first date. It might be a bit of subterfuge but it is quid pro quo as women realize that they too played that game for centuries with slimming underwear: corsets, girdles and push up bras. It was only a matter of time that the metrosexuals revived the shapewear underwear trick.
There is no doubt that slimming underwear does help flatten out a protruding tummy. Not only does it have a physical change on the body, it also has a psychological effect: men just feel more confident. Their heads are higher and their backs are straighter. If there is a formal occasion to attend, guys should definitely get the type of body shapewear that will make them look good in a tuxedo.
The men of today are lucky that there is no longer the stigma of buying something like a “man’s girdle” as there once was. Society is much more tolerant than it was before and the envelope of male fashion has already been pushed way too far than to worry about what some guy wears underneath his clothes. A man buying slimming underwear is realy no big deal nowadays. This will definitely help with the confidence of some men out there who are self conscious about their bodies which is a damn good thing.
