Black Cat Creative Commons We are a cell phone generation, and trying to survive today without one is almost impossible. With all the advances in wireless digital technology finding what you need and getting what you want has never been faster. If you wanted the latest technology to use during this shopping season, then the newest Smartphone apps for the holidays are a must. Some of the newest apps and a few older ones can help you save money, shop smarter, or just have plain old holiday entertainment. Here is a list of the ones that I think that you will enjoy.

First is Shopsavvy. This little app can save you a lot of time and money when you are out shopping for the best deal around. Here is how it works. If you see a product that you like, but you are not sure that is priced the lowest, then run the Shopsavvy app. Using the phone's camera, you can scan the barcode into the phone and run a search to compare the price with local retailers as well as online retailers. This ensures that you find the best deal possible. According to a press release, the co-creator of Shopsavvy user perform between 30 and 50 million scans in a typical month. He also estimates that user will perform over 120 million scans between now and Christmas. As you can see, this is a very popular app that is more useful than a Sunday paper. Best of all, it's free.

Another must have app around is Shopper. For the small price of a whopping $.99 you can you can do everything from comparison shopping to recording all aisle layouts for every store you visit. It will track multiple list, coupon, and promotion on items as well. Just use the red laser barcode scanner to comparison shop, and when you are ready to buy it will calculate tax rates to give you the complete cost of your desired purchase.

CompareMe is a shopping app with a different twist. It compares prices by using a price per unit scale. This is very handy if you are using a member only shopping club like Sam's, etc. When buying items in bulk you should be saving money. This app will tell if the purchase has saved you anything or not. Great little handy tool to have, and the cost to have it is $1.99.

CardStar is another great app, and it only cost 99 cents. This app allows you to download all of your discount loyalty, saver, and reward cards into one little app. No more digging in your purse for your keychain or wallet when making a purchase. When you go to checkout just pull up the barcode, and the cashier can scan it right from your Smartphone. Now, unless you forget your cell phone, these cards will always be with you. This is a very handy app if you are coupon savvy and frequent many stores.

A really wise app for iPhone is the FedEx app. This is very handy if you are shipping or receiving packages during the holidays. All you have to do is enter the tracking code into your iPhone, and you will receive updates on your shipments. You can create watch list or notes to your entries.

Blackberry has an app known as Expense Recorder. This app can record all of your purchases and generate exportable data and reports. For the budget wise shopper, this feature is worth it's weight in gold.

Christmas Lifecards is another fun app for less than a buck. This app has features that allow you to use pictures and fonts and preloaded templates to create your own personalized Christmas cards. You can then send them via e-mail, Twitter, Facebook, and post them on Flickr. This is a great money savor for us, but I guess it is not to good for the already struggling postal service.

There are many more fun available apps such as Christmas Countdown. This app is loaded with Christmas music or you can input your own. It also counts down the days until Christmas. The Santa's Village app is loaded with Christmas inspired games, and Eternal Fire is an app that displays a fireplace with the crackles and pops included. These are some great Smartphone apps for the holidays, but if you have one that you think is worth mentioning please leave a comment. We would like to hear more about it.
