Snoring Relief Tips

By | May 10, 2011 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

According to various studies, up to 50% adults snore.  Even more worrying is that after the age of 40 or so, the condition would deteriorate so badly, it might even destroy your sleeping partner’s sense of hearing!

Okay, that’s an exaggeration of course. But the condition would certainly worsen after the age of 40. You know, I recalled watching on TV about a guy who had a very loud snore. It was extremely loud that over the years, it actually affected his wife’s hearing. She became deaf. I’m not kidding here!

Now, I have a couple of snoring relief tips that I would like to share with you, but please keep in mind that they will not work if you have a snoring condition like that guy on TV. That kind of snoring problem falls in the “extreme category” so a doctor’s consultation is absolutely necessary.

For general snoring problem, you might want to give these tips a shot:

Tip #1: Snoring Relief Exercises

Do you know why people snore? No? Okay here’s the answer. Vibration in the throat tissue is what causes people to snore. Snoring sufferers often experience blockage in the airway and this is what causes the throat to vibrate. When your throat vibrates during sleep, it produces what everybody knows as snoring.

Now, you might be asking, “what can cause blockage in the airway?” They are several factors and one of them is weak throat tissues. So here’s where snoring relief exercises come into play.

Folks with weak throat tissues are prone to snoring because when they are fast asleep, their throats tend to shut, thus blocking regular airflow. Performing a few snoring relief exercises before going to bed may help to strengthen your throat muscles and prevent blockage.

Various “stop snoring exercise instructions” are available online so you won’t have any trouble finding them. They are free so you might want to give them a go and see what happens.

Tip #2: Snoring Relief Aids

Snoring relief aids are easily available at pharmacies but in my experience, some of them don’t work very well. The popular ones are snoring relief dental piece and also stop snoring strips. The former is a dental piece that you insert in your mouth and it’s supposed to minimize snoring sounds. While the latter, works by placing the strip directly on your throat.

I’ve never use the strip so I can’t comment on its effectiveness but the dental piece was a real pain the rear to use! It slips out of position rather frequently so I always had to readjust the thing. Furthermore, it makes my mouth sore after every use.

In my experience, stop snoring pillow is the best kind of aid. This sort of pillow is designed to align your neck and head in the proper fashion while you’re asleep. It cradles your head comfortably; provide proper alignment for the head and spine, while allowing you to maintain your natural sleeping position.

As a result, obstruction in the airway is prevented so you won’t snore as much and your sleeping partner can finally have a good night’s sleep.
