Solar Lights - Pros and Cons

By | 3 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

Solar lights are becoming increasingly popular with homeowners. Particularly homeowners who own houses with lawns. Unlike the past, solar lights are now sold in many forms. Homeowners buy solar lights not only for the energy saving light the provide but also because they make their landscape look much better and attractive. Residents in many upscale neighborhoods even try to out do each others landscape by using the latest solar lights.

The holidays are especially a fun time because solar lights are also available in Christmas and Easter decorations. This kind of competition between homeowners is actually fun and productive. The more homes that have solar lights the less damage to our planet. There are some negatives however and this is especially the case in states where sunshine isn't available year round. The problem with solar energy is that it is completely dependent on the sun. If the weather is cloudy for an entire week then you would be left in the dark. This means that you should have an alternative source of energy to provide you with lights whenever you solar lights are not powered. This actually isn't too bad and using ordinary electricity for 25% of the time is acceptable. Any thing above that and you should seriously think twice before investing your money in these expensive lighting fixtures.

Whatever you decide just make sure that you understand fully how solar lights work. They are great but they also have some issues. They are ideal for cities and states with a lot of sunshine but they might not be great for great for often overcast areas.
