When people think about high cholesterol foods, the first thing that springs to the mind is they are unhealthy and deadly. Mostly this is true, but there are different type of cholesterol, there is the bad cholesterol (LDL) and there is good cholesterol (HDL). So its go's without saying that we should be eating high cholesterol foods that contain plenty of the good stuff HDL.
So lets start off by telling you about the foods that you should avoid when ever possible. The first group of food you should try to reduce within your diet are foods that are high in saturated fats, foods such as red meat and some diary products. The second group of high cholesterol food to avoid are foods that contain trans fats. This type of fat is a killer, it is a man made fat which is created by solidifying vegetable oil by means of hydrogenation. This type of fat has a very long shelf life, so it is a very popular ingredient within processed foods. In some countries the use of trans fats within food is banned, so this should give you an indication just how dangerous this type of fat is to the human body.
The high cholesterol foods that will increase the good cholesterol HDL are foods that are rich in omega 3 fats, foods such as oily fish like mackerel or salmon also nuts and seeds such as walnuts and flax seed contain lots of healthy omega 3's. There are also health supplements in the marketplace which will help to increase and decrease cholesterol, supplements such as rice bran oil, policosanol, green tea extract and lecithin.
Adding healthy high cholesterol foods and supplements like the ones just mentioned and reducing the amount of saturated fats and trans fats that you consume will help dramatically in improving your bodies cholesterol levels.
