Here are techniques I have learned over the years that can be used for your vehicle to maintain its showroom shine.
The Tools You Need:
- Microfiber Wash Mitt
- Quick Detailer
- Wash Mitt
- 2 Buckets
- Car Shampoo
Some precautions before you start
Before you start washing make sure the surface is cool when you touch it. Wash your vehicle under a shade if it is possible. Washing it under the sun will make the soapy water dry before you can rinse it so please take note of this.
This is very important. Make sure the wheels and brakes are cool before you start, you risk warping the rotors when you spray them with cool water as the hot rotors will crack when cool water touches it.
Time to get started
Start off with the wheels. Spray a generous amount of wheel cleaner on the wheels and tires; allow it to soak for a few moments to loosen up dirt. Using the wheel brush, very carefully clean the dirt and after that rinse. Be sure to finish cleaning one wheel before moving to the next.
Time to wash
Pour a cap full of car shampoo from the bucket and then you spray clean water. Read the instructions on the label for proper water/car shampoo ratios.
Get started with the roof and progressively carry on down so that you avoid getting dirt on the bottom and shifting it to other areas on the vehicle scratching the paint. Make sure to rinse often as you don't want the soapy water to dry up.
Once you finish washing the entire car, dry it quickly as you would not want water marks developing on the paint. Using the waffle weaved microfiber towel, start with the windows because water marks are often most apparent on this spot. After drying the windows move to the roof and work your way down.
Lastly dry the wheels - don't forget to make use of a separate towel for this purpose because you don't want to get dirt from the wheels and wipe it around the body.
Some Final Touches
Right after drying the car, spray a bit of quick detailer over the paint and then buff off utilizing a microfiber towel. It will help maintain the shine of the car's paint.
I hope this article provides you with a basic idea on the proper steps in cleaning your car. Have a nice day.
