Some Tips on Getting the Best Shoes for Plantar Fasciitis
Finding an adequate shoe to wear when an individual has plantar fasciitis can often be a difficult task. The shoes an individual wears are often very important when they are trying to reduce the pain caused by plantar fasciitis.
One of the first steps someone should take in finding the best shoes for their plantar fasciitis is to learn about their own feet. They will need to figure out what the underlying cause of the plantar fasciitis is, whether it be overly high arches, flat feet, posture problems, or even stride problems. The best advice for the individual is to speak with a physical therapist and get their opinion and recommendation.
A person who has plantar fasciitis is going to have to find a pair of shoes with the appropriate arch support. To find these shoes the individual will have to avoid going to the normal shoe stores and find a store that specializes in comfort shoes. Many of the employees that work for these comfort shoe stores will be extremely knowledgeable when it comes to plantar fasciitis, and they will be able to make recommendations from the type of foot pain an individual has.
When at the store the individual should try the shoe on and walk around for a while, to see how the shoes feel on their feet. The individual should pay close attention to how the shoe fits, as the shoe should fit snug around the foot, snug meaning that it isn't so tight that it cuts off circulation but not loose enough for their foot to move around too much inside the shoe.
If this is the first time the individual has ever wore shoes with corrective arch support, they will need to take some time to adjust to them. The individual shouldn't just jump into wearing them all the time, they should wear them for a few minutes each day while slowly increasing how much they wear them until they are comfortable wearing them all the time. Remember that to eventually get the best shoes for plantar fasciitis you are going to have invest the time that is needed to try on as many pairs of shoes as possible, as this should help guarantee that you find a pair that is right for your particular condition.
