Some Tips on Wearing Glue On Nails

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

In today's economy, there are things that we must do to cut expenses where we can. Women who were once used to the luxury of visiting the nail salon on a regular basis may now find themselves unable to keep up with the expense of professional looking salon nails. This is unfortunate because beautiful and fashionable fingernails make a woman's hand look ultra-feminine and sexy.

So what is a woman to do? Well one alternative is to purchase glue on nails.

Today's glue on nails are not the same press-on nails that your mother wore 20 years ago. The material that makes up glue on nails is much more advanced and sophisticated. The variety of colors and styles is endless, and allows a woman to change her nails as often as she wants to. The nails are very inexpensive and the kits usually have at least two sets of nails included in them. Most glue on nail kits also include the glue, an emery board, and an orange stick.

If glue on nails sounds like a great alternative to getting your nails done at a salon, then the tips below will help make your nails look gorgeous day after day and help them to last as long as they can. Also, if you would like a step-by-step guide on how to apply fake fingernails, read this article.

Do not wear your nails longer than 10 days. Usually glue on nails will last about a week, but make sure you remove them completely after 10 days of continuous wear. This is because during the normal course of wear, bacteria can get in-between the natural nail and the glue on nail, and if it has time to grow there an infection can develop. Keep in mind that this also applies to acrylic nails that are applied professionally at a nail salon.

Get rid of those cuticles! However you trim your cuticles, don't skip this step. Trimming the cuticles makes all the difference in the final look of the fingernails.

Give your fingernails a break in-between sets. Just like with acrylic nails, it is always a good idea to let your natural nails take a breather before applying a new set of glue on nails.

Use an acetone-based nail polish remover. When removing the glue from your fingernails, acetone works best.

Be careful when applying the nails. The glue that comes with false nails is very strong and bonds quickly. Take your time gluing on each nail. Keep the nail polish remover nearby in case it bonds to your skin.

Wear gloves when necessary. Whether your doing the dishes, pulling weeds, or changing the oil in your car, make sure to wear gloves. This will protect your nails and help keep them from breaking or coming off completely.

Wearing glue on nails is fun, cheap, and fashionable. Follow these tips and tell your friends to went to a high-end salon to get the look…they will never notice the difference!
