The words "Summer holidays in Australia" sprout images of white beautiful beaches, sparkling shorelines, barrels of surf, blue skies and sunshine. Though in this financial market the tourism industry is slowing down as families can't justify spending so much money on a hotel for all the kids. However there is a much smarter way of travelling and not emptying the bank account.

Let's take a trip up the East Coast of NSW of Australia and see just how good you and your family can have it. come check out a cheap family holiday.

Heading north to Shoal Bay, NSW:

Hitch your caravan, camper trailer or pack the boot of your car with your camping gear and head north from the sprawling city of Sydney on the freeway for 3 hours and you come to one of the prettiest coastal towns of Australia, Shoal Bay. It contains a pristine white sandy beach with flat water perfect for swimming with the kids. This bay has a great place to throw a line with the kids or if you are towing a boat there is a 2 lane all tide boat ramp with trailer parking or simply enjoy a great day splashing around in the crystal clear waters, lying on the white sandy beaches and a BBQ picnic with friends and family!

Directly opposite this haven is where you will stay, camping near the beach - Halifax Holiday Park, set in natural bushland. The park has concrete slabs for easy to set up caravan, RV or camper trailers, or lovely grassy and shady areas to pitch a tent. It is a 4 star holiday park with modern amenities, guest laundry, lovely undercover bbq area, onsite Children’s playground and the parents heaven sent “Sandicoots Kids activity Club” run through NSW school holiday periods. The activities range from arts & craft, games, nature walks and movie nights. This great set up is more like “glamping” than “camping”! For the older teenagers wanting to play in the surf there are also 3 surf beaches close by to this camping holiday park; Box Beach, Wreck Beach and Zenith Beach. It is also just a 15 minute stroll from the centre of Nelson Bay and the popular Nelson Bay marina. The marina is situated in the idyllic waters of Port Stephens offering local activities like dolphin or whale watching cruises, scuba diving or offshore fishing trips or if you need to escape the water a visit to Oakvale Farm to pet animals…There is something for the whole family. This is a cheap family getaway and base to launch into the great outdoors around Nelson Bay or simply chill out, you won’t want to leave this place.
