New studies have been conducted on a popular television show, "Spongebob Squarepants." Although many families find this show fun and harmless for their children to watch, the new studies prove otherwise. Specialists say that the show is having a noticeable negative effect on children. Parents should also be aware of all of this. The experts say to "be careful what you and your kids watch."

This television cartoon series is very fast paced and hard to comprehend. The main reason it is hard to comprehend is because the actions, characters, and events that take place in this show are very imaginative and unreal. Kids use up a lot of brain power when trying to process this cartoon series. After about one hour of watching "Spongebob Squarepants," negative effects began to take place.

So just what are the negative effects you may wonder? Well, after watching this show for only an hour, kids showed a significant sign of attention loss and inability to think. To prove this, the same test was given to a group of kids. Some of the kids had just watched 'Spongebob Squarepants" for an hour and the other kids had just watched "PBS" for an hour. Researchers discovered that the group of kids that had watched "Spongebob Squarepants," did much worse than the group of kids who had watched "PBS."

Now you may ask, How long do the effects last? Well, the experts are exactly positive on this one. They've done multiple tests, but the effect's duration differs. Although, most claim that it wears off within a short period.

But, even though "Spongebob Squarepants" was the main kids television show series tested, it definitely isn't the only show that has shown negative effects on a child's brain. Most cartoon animated television shows are bad for a child's brain. Not only does it have a negative effect on the brain, but it also confused the child greatly. Children have to not only comprehend all the fictitious events in the show, but they also have to decide what exists in reality at the same time. It simply drains the brain.

So, parents, make sure you don't allow your child to watch just anything he or she may want. I'm not saying that you have to make a strict "Educational Programs Only" program out of this article. I'm just saying that you shouldn't let your child watch hour after hour of nonsense-filled cartoons. Plus, a few educational shows can't hurt.
