Spray tanning has become so popular nowadays that almost everybody does it. You might have even heard of how "wonderful" it is yourself by friends or family. However, there are certain things that you need to know before making your decision based on a few people's experience. Spray tanning is not what it seems on TV and unless you like leathery poker dotted brown skin you should not go for it. It is going to be a mistake you will never forget.

Spray tanning can make you look extremely wrinkly and old if you do not know how to use it the right way. Some people come out looking like cheetahs, if you do not mind that then you can go ahead and do what you want, but personally I would prefer to look human. If you really want a spray tan and your skin does not easily tan under the sun rays then you can still get a fake tan if you want but you have to at least familiarize yourself with the products and lotions and HOW to get it done the right way.

One of the most important things for spray tanning is to learn how to prepare before hand. Research has proved that if you prepare well before going into a spray tanning salon or even a spray tanning booth you are most likely to get a better tan than those whom haven't. So as you can see, it is extremely important. Fortunately preparing for it is extremely easy. You have to follow these steps one by one:

Initially you will need to exfoliate yourself completely to remove all body deodorant, perfumes and dead skin you have on you. Why is this necessary? Simply because these things prevent the spray from reaching your body. Imagine some parts of your body preventing the lotion from darkening it and other parts that are clear of deodorant and perfume become darker. You won't even look natural. If this happens to you it is because you haven't removed the lotions that are covering your skin in some areas.

Also if you want to shave or wax your legs make sure you do it at least 2 days before you get your spray tan, especially if you are not using a clear lotion because these lotions go into your pores which are open when you freshly shave. They give you a really funny dotted look, and unless you don't mind looking like a dalmatian then make sure you do not shave right before going for your spray tan.

Another very important step is after you get your tan. You have to wear baggy clothes and avoid wearing anything tight for an hour or so as the lotion may rub off on your clothes. Even if you wipe yourself with a towel afterwords and nothing came off it can still come off from wearing tight clothes. Also stay away from the pool and beaches (unless you are not actually going to go in the water) for 4-6 hours as the spray can easily wash off in liquid. After 5 hours or so you can do whatever you want.

You have to keep all those things in mind and take the safety precautions as well when you are going for a spray tan. That means cover your eyes and nostrils, it also means hold your breath as you don't want to inhale any of the chemicals. Also note that your spray tan will begin to fade little by little and after every wash, but when it does, you can always go for a new one! and every time you do make sure to prepare well in order to look great and avoid disasters.
