Amplify your Links

I have found a handy wee service called Amplify. It is a bit of a social network in of itself and it will also autopost onwards your postings that you make to it. I have the settings as per the picture you see here.

First of all get an account with Amplify. You can set up an account that links to either your Twitter account or your Facebook account. It is also possible to make an account that is just simply an Amplify and not linked to either of those other social networks. I linked mine to one of my Twitter accounts, it was just easier that way.

In the menu part of the Amplify site click on Settings then you can choose the Autopost set up area from the links in the middle of the page. Then you will be able to connect the Social sites that you have accounts for already, to Amplify. Go and make accounts in any of the other places if you want to, for example head over to Plurk if you have not been there before.

There are all the usual suspects in the list of social sites

  • Facebook
  • Google Buzz
  • Posterous
  • Tumblr
  • WordPress
  • Blogger
  • Plurk
  • Friendfeed
  • Diigo
  • Delicious
  • Clipmarks
  • - Url Shortening

Have you got an account with

Perhaps Amplify will add more sites later. What you can do for now though is to open an account with That is if you haven't got one already, and add some more social network accounts to be posted to. This way you will catch a few social network and blogging sites that will for you. As you can see in the picture I have hit 8 more sites with Ping and I could add a few more too.

You can see that Twitter is in the list for and that is a different account to the one in Amplify. You don't really want the same message going out twice to the same bunch of followers.

Take your InfoBarrel link and open it in your browser.

The easiest way to add a link to Amplify is to put a bookmarklet on the tool bar of your browser. You can grab the bookmarklet button from the Amplify site, and you will have the easiest, most social way to clip excerpts from articles, blog posts or anything else you read on the web,. Open up the InfoBarrel link and click on the bookmarklet.

You have a choice in how you submit to Amplify

Amplify2You will have a choice of submitting the complete URL or to select parts of the page. As you click page areas, such as a paragraph or a heading they get added to the full amount of the choice you will be submitting.

You can also choose from

  • Clip this page - clips only the parts you want
  • Share this URL - Share the whole page
  • Write a Post - Write something completely new - no limit to size of written post.
  • Microblog - Write up to 1000 characters

Another thing you could do before you Amplify

If you have three articles on a similar subject, then what you could do is to put those three links into the Best Review site. This way you can promote three related articles in one go. Or it could be two of your InfoBarrel articles and a blog post off your own site. Instead of Amplifying the InfoBarrel articles directly you can be sending the SEO juice in to them via Best Reviewer site and don't forget that Best Reviewer (ref link) is a revenue sharing site too. It is from the same person that runs SheToldMe.

Hopefully you find this useful. Don't be afraid to ask questions if you have any.
