Spring Break Safety Tips
Here in a few months young people from across the country will make their way towards the warmer coastal areas. They look to get away from the daily routine and pressure of school and parents. Here today I want to talk about some spring break safety tips to keep in mind when going on vacation. Regardless of how invincible you think you are please remember that the dangers of modern life are real and impact others every day.
Whenever most people think of spring break they think about drinking and sex. When you have tons of college students ending up on the beaches away from everything what else would you expect. But with those two things involved it can get very dangerous for everyone involved on several levels. Those two areas are where you can greatly help yourself practice some of these spring break safety tips.
The dangers of drinking often fall upon deaf ears when talking to teenage and college students. There are some people out there unaware that you can die from drinking too much alcohol. Even if you don't drink that much the dangers are still there because of impaired decision making that comes with drinking alcohol. One of the best spring break safety tips is to limit yourself on the drinks and never let your glass leave your sight.
If you practice safe sex at home then why do anything differently at a distant location with a stranger. It makes sense but every year people come back from sexy vacations with sexually transmitted diseases like Herpes. So what happens in Panama City may stay in Panama City but the STDs will come back with you for life.
Earlier I mentioned never letting your drink leave your sight. This also means not taking drinks from anybody unless you seen exactly where it was poured or made by a bartender. Every year girls go on spring break and end up drugged and raped by sexual predators. It happens more in places outside of the country. You have to be smart and practice these spring break safety tips to try and keep from getting in that situation.
There are other things though besides drinking and sex to worry about on vacation. One such thing is to keep your doors locked and protect your valuables. Criminals often see that time of the year as an easy time to rob young teens and college aged students. So make sure and keep the doors locked at all times even if you're in the room.
The final items I want to discuss here about spring break safety tips are tanning and heat related issues. It may be a long-term problem but skin cancer is no joke so make sure and wear plenty of sunscreen and try to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun. Along those same lines make sure and keep hydrated to fight off the negative effects of dehydration.
