Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast, Queensland.

Surf all all night!

Surfers Paradise is the centre of the Gold Coast, Southern Queensland. The area was named for it's beautiful golden beaches, a mecca to Surfers & tourists alike!

"Surfers" as it is known to locals, is party central!

The main shopping & restaurant precinct provides endless choice of bars, pubs, nightclubs & entertainment at night. Usually packed with young people, it is a great place to hang out & party. Avoid December though, as large amounts of Sydney & Brisbane's teenagers head to the Gold Coast for "Schoolies" week after finishing their final exams.

Surfing & swimming are still some of the areas main attractions. Surfing lessons are available to those who have never tried the sport & swimming on the public beaches is free. All mainland beaches in Australia are freely accessible to all. However I would strongly suggest that the visitor look for patrolled beaches & definitely swim between the flags as the ocean currents can be unpredictable.

Wearing sunscreen, hat & shirt is also essential as many visitors underestimate the power of the Australian sun! It is often said by locals that you can pick the tourists by their red skin! sunstroke is serious & wasting your days in a hotel bed recovering is not at all fun!

If you are over 18, the Jupiter's Casino, a short bus ride away, is open 24 hours. Offering gambling, restaurants, accommodation, shows & other entertainment in a magnificent Vegas type setting.  The drinking age is 18 in Australia & you will also need identification to enter most premises serving alcohol.

The Gold Coast also offers many Fun parks & attractions. Sea World , Outback Spectacular, Warner Brothers Movie World, Wet & Wild, Dream World are all worth a visit but allow a full day for each. Some hotels offer packages & there is also a 3 park pass you can purchase online.  Sea world is also attached to a hotel & the packages including entry to the Park are well worth a look.,

For the"rev heads", the Castrol Edge VB Super School provides the experience of driving a racing car. There are also Racing Karts & the  Aquaduck Safaris amphibious aquaducks for those who like it fast!

For the adventurous Mount Tamborine Adventure Park not far from the Gold Coast provides elevated challenges up to 18 metres& flying foxes over subtropical rainforest . Lots of fun & a great day out, but there is a weight restriction of 130kg

Animal lovers will enjoy the Eco tour of the  Inland, Whale watching or one of the wildlife parks such as Currumbin Sanctuary. Currumbin is a magical mix of free ranging kangaroos & wallabies & exhibits of Australian wildlife, but the highlight is hand feeding hundreds of Rainbow Lorikeets that come to the sanctuary twice a day.

There is also Aussie Waterballs at Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, Putt Putt Golf & Lazer zone in the area & great shopping for all ages.

Whatever you decide to do, the Gold Coast has something for everyone!
