Star Wars Legos

Legos have been enormously popular among children worldwide since they were introduced in Denmark by Ole Kirk Christiansen in the 1930's. For the more technically minded Lego Technics are available that are based on actual working machines or trucks. These are more complex to build and include steering and suspension systems. They can be purchased for a range of different abilities so you could start with a more basic set and move on to the more complex designs as your skills develop.
