Stop Barking Dogs
There a few things that you should understand about dog barking before you even try and attempt to stop barking dogs. The first thing is that all dogs are barking for a reason. The dog's bark has evolved as a secondary method of communication. Of course the dog uses body language as its first level of communication. It is very rare that you will observe two dogs barking at each other if they are close to one another. You are more than likely going to see a dog barking when it is trying to ward off a distant threat or shouting at something that he cannot see. So if you are trying to stop barking dogs you have to understand why the dog is barking in the first place.
There are reasons to stop dogs barking incessantly. One of these reasons is because you may be annoying your neighbors. A persistent dog barking in a neighborhood will not only cause arguments within your neighborhood and bad feeling towards you from your neighbors, it could also cause your neighbors to seek legal advice. This is because there are dog barking laws which prevent anyone from owning an animal which is causing a nuisance. Conversely, if you are a neighbor who is trying to stop a neighbors dog barking, I would advise that you approach the neighbor first in an amicable manner and tell them about your issues with the noise levels. If this does not work then you can seek legal recourse. Of course if you are the owner of a dog which has a dog barking problem and you have been approached by one of your neighbors, I would do something about this straightaway and not allow the problem to escalate. Unfortunately, there are some people who will take the law into their own hands to stop barking dogs.
Like I said, you first must find out exactly why your dog is doing this behavior before you can decide how to stop a dog from barking. Once you have discovered the reasons behind the incessant barking you can deter this behavior with some of the products that are available, such as the stop barking collars, or you can use the services of a dog behaviorist. But first you must look at your dogs surroundings and see if you can figure out if there is anything that is happening to the dog, or not happening with the dog, that is causing all this barking. Dogs need exercise, and the bigger the dog the more exercise it will need. So if you are keeping the dog in your back yard and not taking the dog out for regular strenuous exercise, the dog will eventually start to build up energy levels to the extent that it needs to expand them in any way that it can. At times this will appear as compulsive barking direct it at nothing at all. So if you are trying to stop barking dogs you should first look at yourself and your interaction with the dog and see if there is a problem that cannot be fixed there and then.
